changing my 90 to 110

Post by jamjar1383 »

hey dudes, now i know this question has probs been asked to death on here but,
i want to add the hdi 110 intercooler to my 90 estate also gonna do a few other things while im there like de-egr, de cat(if i can get away with it come mot time)

question is do i then need to remap it??
ive read somewhere on here that its a good idea to change the clutch before i have the remap done, so does the 90bhp one have a dmf??

im only thing of some light tuning but it does seem a bit gutless compaired to my xsara (i know it was a lighter car and i had the pump wound all the way out  )but i just want a little more power id be happy if it was 110.
d9 hdi 90 rapier estate

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

To the best of my knowledge, the HDi 90 and 110 don't need a cat to pass the MOT emissions test.

The HDi 90 does not have the DMF (that is a "luxury" reserved for some HDi 110 and all of the HDi 2.2)

You don't need to do anything before you remap it - you could do it to the standard car if you like.

I would also think about a stainless steel exhaust if you already haven't. Get a Powerflow one custom-made and fitted for £300-ish; tell them you don't want a cat on it, and that you're aiming for performance.

An intercooler will help. Not sure if anybody has uprated the turbo on the HDi 90 before. Might be worth looking into that too. Depends how much you're willing to spend and how far you want to push the car!

It'd be nice if they were - could certainly use some commission...

I was just incredibly impressed with the service and the effect it had on my old 1.8

I think the crucial question is Siemens or Bosch?

The intercooler is not what makes a 110. It's the fuelling map that gives the power. The I/C is just there to keep a lid on the inlet temps because the exhaust side is hotter on the 110 and could lead to incomplete combustion if the I/C wasn't there to cool the charge temp.

By all means fit an I/C but the car must be mapped (preferably on a rolling road) to get the most effective power without producing too much smoke.
