The 2.1 wont run well if you have an air leak as the Lucas epic hates air,
this could well be your problem,
track down the air leak and see how it runs after that.

One time, the return fuel pipe came off the pump and I had a massive leak as any unused fuel went under the car as opposed to the tank. You would easily see it with the engine running.

worked mine out at 28 miles per gallon.

travels 450 miles per tank, but the tank is £90 to fill, and i really can't see mine having a bigger tank than yours.

At todays ridiculous fuel prices £90 might be about right if you're running the tank very close to empty, 60 litres of Tesco standard diesel set me back £72 a few days ago, add another 10 litres plus the price fluctuations between filling stations and I guess you could put £90 worth into my car but I'd be waiting for the thing to cough and die all the way to the pump!!!!!

If you write "I put in x litres in the tank", it will make much more sense than monetary value. We have now idea how much you paid per litre.

When petrol hits £1.34/litre, I'll be paying £100 to fill up my coupé!!!

If I've sold my Golf by then and not replaced it, that £100 coupé tank will last me just 300 miles of commuting  Having said that, it does do a hell of a lot better away from the short daily urban hilly commute, with my record being a comfortable 707 motorway miles to a tank... 8)
