Re: Testing the water

Yep DD your absolutely correct. But better the devil you know. Do you still have it? The heads now off and it's clear the failure was on 2 and possibly 4 (counting from the cam belt end). Gonna put a new cam belt on as well (water pump fine). Taking the head for skimming today. Incidentally, I've be...

Testing the water

My 2003 03 plate LX 2.0 hdi estate in that maroon colour has a head gasket leaking. 106000 miles. It has an mot until september 2020. It's got 2 brand new Michelin x climate tyres on the front (about 600 miles or so). Other than the gasket, reversing lights and the CD player everything else seems to...

Re: Head gasket repair

Ta for that advice. I'm going to have it done properly. I know it'll be costly, and the motor isn't worth much but I could spend another £1500 and still buy a bag of problems. Better the devil you know I think. Anyway it's a nice comfy lugger with 10 months mot still to run, and two new Michelin x c...

Head gasket repair

Well, my low coolant light came on a few weeks ago. I've had the car 2.0 hdi lx estate since June 2017. No loss at all until now. Spitting coolant out of the header tank and hissing coming through when stopped, not to mention under pressure when cold. Classic signs to me! Although I want to do a pro...

So what shall I replace it with

My 406 2.0 hdi estate is fine at the moment: passed mot a few months ago. However, the time will come when it will need to go. I use it for property maintenance but don't want to buy a van if I can help it. Thought about Toyota avensis estate. Anyone any ideas? Need an estate as big or bigger than t...

Problem login in on new phone

Has anyone had problems login in when they've changed their mobile?
I try to login on my new phone but the site defaults to "login page" every time.
Hence, I'm posting this message from my old phone.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks

Engine Breather issue??

My dipstick has twice "popped out". I found it raised when I check the engine bay.
Could this be a blocked Breather? If so, how do I check this out?
