Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?

Volvo passed this nice round number this morning.

The wife's Fiesta also passed the 10000 mark earlier in the week, but she's not sad enough to take a photo

RIP Lou

I'm sad to report that I've just read some shocking news on Facebook. Our very own Lou (Puggy) passed away last night. I only met him the once but had many, many humorous exchanges with him over the years on here and on Facebook. He was one of life's great characters and the world will be a poorer p...

Re: Car Insurance - is it going up in price again?

A few years ago I was insured with Aviva and used a price comparison site at renewal time. The cheapest quote was with Aviva, £80 less than the renewal from Aviva. I phoned them up and was told that the internet price was for new policies only and that they couldn't reduce my renewal price. I was, h...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I know exactly where you're coming from Welters, I'd love to think that in the same situation I'd have the bottle to ignore all correspondence until they go away, but in reality I'd cough up for the sake of peace of mind and household harmony, then be really annoyed with the world and spend my eveni...

Re: Winter Tyres? don't think I'll bother again

First winter I had the Volvo it snowed a bit and the tyres that were on it were totally hopeless, I was petrified I was going to wreck my new car. Bought the winters in time for the following year and there's been hardly a flake of snow since. So sorry folks, these mild winters are entirely my fault...

Re: Slowing things down (driving)

I've been driving steadily for years, it's very rare that I go much above any speed limit, I tend to set the cruise to limit + 5-10% (indicated, which in reality is limit -<5%) and sit back to enjoy the ride. I sometimes drive robustly and progressively up to the limit when needed, I'm not scared of...

Re: shed's.

I bought a shed from a local timber yard, much much better that the stuff you get in B&Q for about the same price. Was delivered by 2 blokes on a lorry who gave me a base, 2 sides, front and back, 2 roof panels, roll of felt and a couple of bags of nails. Banged it together in about an hour, slapped...

Re: Discovery

Depends what you want to do with it. The Series 1s were a bit more agricultural and would be my choice for an offroader. I'm told that the 200tdi was a more robust engine than the 300tdi. A Series 2 td5 will be more refined and would be my choice for an every-day car, but many (if not all) came with...
