Re: How many teeth are on the rear bearing
got my backplates back from the zinc-plating company. Here are the pics. IMAG0531.jpg The chaps did say that the plastic coating that was still surprisingly good but couldn't tell at first, was a bastard to get off - even after shot blasting. Maybe FP's new ones will last a while without further tre...

Re: Alloy refurb .....
Thanks Sonia, although not sure if my car is a 'him' or a 'her'.
Never been one to name a car, although other car is a blue 306, so I guess we have ' big blue ' and ' little blue '....
Tis a beast though, currently an Audi scaring ' super tractor '

Re: Alloy refurb .....
Talking of rims, well we were originally, I changed my Hoggars to Starfish yesterday in my lunch-break, what to you think? The starfish were a pain to fit - very snug over the hum and has to be lined up dead perfect to get the bolts in. They stick out a bit further too. Not sure if I like them yet b...

Re: Alloy refurb .....
I did mine myself, although I made the mistake of buying ' silver ' paint, not ' Alloy Silver ' paint, so they look a bit dull. I used one of those soap-filled pads to rub the wheels down, and the primer and spray and lacquer was £20 which was enough for all 4 wheels. Take time to mask up the tyres ...

Re: New 406 Owner.. with problems :(
Hi mate, welcome to the forum. I would definitely join the 406coupe club too, thats where I got in touch with a chap to ' de-fap' my 2.2Hdi Estate. Also removed the EGR valve at the same time - this is just a choice thing though. I drove from Bournemouth to Tewkesbury to have the work done by Finchy...

Re: My first 17" rims on my Bluish
Now Sonia, after chatting about 7 seat conversions, why would you think I had a saloon..?
Just bought a set of 5 16" Starfish ( Coupe ) alloys from the bay, with good tyres too. Not sure why they are called starfish when they are 6 spoke - when did you last see a 6 limbed starfish??

I had a recent dream that my brakes failed and I smashed my car to pieces, and my wife died in the accident.

Re: swapping 90-110 stuff hdi
Hi mate, there are lots of differences between a 90 and a 110.
ECU - a 110 ecu controls turbo, 90 has a manual turbo.
Flywheel - 110 has a DMF
Intercooler
Probably more I missed.
Not really an ECU straight swap but maybe an engine swap?

Re: Remote central locking/ignition accessories position
In my 306, I lost central locking and r/h door speaker, when he wind bent the door back everso slightly. Didn't happen straight away but a couple of months later.
Turned out to be the loom between the door and the frame just got stretched a bit and started shorting.

Re: Question to other 2.0 petrol-heads
Hi Sonia, I used to have a 1.8 petrol Mondeo  which was a cheap ebay motor to keep me going, as my van had 2 seats and needed a 4 door for the baby. This was about 5 years ago, but it is a similar size engine in a similar size car to what you have now. I was getting 30mpg if I drove ' enthusia...

Re: Eventfull week
I was told of this but as they came with the car I thought I would stick with them - just need a spare set for summer tyres.
I got part worn tyres fitted, then went to Tyreland or somewhere else reputable, to get them Nitrous filled and balanced with stick on weights.
