Re: Sits too high at the back?
So I purchased some 40mm Cobra lowering springs and have fitted the rear, already it looks so much better as it’s slightly more level! I’m not looking forward to doing the front as from what I gather it’s a bit of a ball ache! Until you fit the 40mm lower front springs then back to square one :wink...

Re: Clock instrument cluster
NinoB, I have a set out of a 2.0hdi like the set Ginger posted a link to if your interested. The two issues I can think of. 1. I have no idea of the millage stored on the clocks 2. Your first picture shows a petrol set (6.5k red line), the diesel red line is around 5.2k from memory. Kind regards DDD.

+1 on what Dogslife said
Oh & welcome.
I didn't read all your post (because of how you had typed it, it started to hurt my aging eyes )
But 20 years is too long by at least 12 year's, I do hope you changed it before you used it.

Re: I can haz a new car too....!
Look's nice Kelv, I had a 740 glt 2.3 turbo many moons ago  it was the thirstiest car I've ever owned :? Circa 22 mpg, I sold it after one month. & I can top trump you both on the insurance & tax (as in both cost me more  ) But it worked out to within ten pounds of what it cost me to ta...

Re: my pride and joy estate GLX HDi 90
Welcome Matt :D Whilst I agree with some of the comments, I come at it from a different angle If you get to know your car & like it, why not spend the money to keep it right ? Ginger for example, sold on or scrapped (I can't quite remember :cheesy: ) A lovely 2.2Hdi executive estate because it had c...

Re: Is an engine swap now an option?
Just swap the engine block ect & swap over the rext  simples :cheesy: Or you could buy my sub 130k car that's had a new turbo, skimmed & ported head, cambelt, water pump ect But I can't get to the bottom of an airbag fault, so no current mot. £500 & she's yours, I can give you lot's more info ...
Re: Newbie!
Welcome to the mad house Ian
Wow you leave it twenty years & then buy a 97/98 D8 phase one
You've got a good six years of newer 406's to wade through yet
Great car's, I've personally had four & still own one after eight year's, It's just the wrong one I kept

Re: Rear nearside tyre wearing on outside only.
+1 Look up Doggy is spot on, My advice would be new links with the new eccentric bolts & washers. I did mine when I first had it (but the photo's are long gone  ) You will need a proper four wheel alignment ( that understands than the rear end is adjustable  ) Doggy, it's both camber & c...

Hi Baz & welcome :) 1st I feel for you as I sold my much loved 406 3.0 V6 se manual Coupe two years ago & she only had 54k on her :( Anyhow I take it yours is a 406 & not a 306 or has it been converted to V6 power  It sounds like a lovely car, only problem is finding a buyer for it, 3k sounds ...

Re: Timing belt replacement
If I'm understanding you right your current belt is 3.5 years old & has covered 60000 km Which is 36000 miles so you'll be fine :) That's good average millage. I'd never do just a belt, if your paying for labour it's false economy & if doing it yourself a kit including the waterpump is under £75 ove...

Re: Timing belt replacement
Peugeot in the uk claimed 80 thousand miles or ten years whichever was sooner This was revised to 70 thousand or eight years. But to be honest I do mine at five to six max irrelevant of the millage. If your car is low millage because it spends time sitting not being used, the belt is wrapped tightly...
