Re: I am back! And looking for a new car...

I paid £1850 for my 1999 406 LX 1.8i Petrol D9 saloon, which had only 29,000 on the clock.

Not a damn thing wrong with it (except the exterior temperature sensor, and that really isn't a showstopper).

Re: Tyres - Newbie Help Needed Urgently!

Dude has given me £25 rebate (replacing the duff tyres originall on the alloys cost me £40), and has told me I don't need to worry about the speedo; he says it won't affect it. I'm not sure I believe him, having looked at the tyre size calculator site (great link, thanks DaiRees!) it tells me that: ...

Re: Tyres - Newbie Help Needed Urgently!

Thanks guys, I'll query it with the seller, but as long as I'm not doing anything that is gonna get me killed :), I'll use them (all 4 are the same size - 185/65/R15) and just get some kind of part refund from the guy or something (I'll need to replace my spare tyre as it is 195/65/R15 (it's also a ...

Tyres - Newbie Help Needed Urgently!

Hi there, I received my alloys with tyres today. The original eBay listing was for 4x Peugeot 307 alloys with 195/65/R15 tyres, 2 of which were illegal, the other 2 being borderline. The seller offered to replace the tyres for an extra £40. The tyres were replaced, and the new ones are in good shape...

Re: Alloy Wheels - Newbie Help

Thanks to all for your replies - I've bought a set of 15" 307 Rapier alloys with 195/65/R15 tyres, so they should fit exactly the same as the bog-standard wheels.

Should get 'em by Friday, says the bloke, and then I've just got to get them fitted.

Re: Alloy Wheels - Newbie Help

Much obliged, sir - I've added them to my watch list!

I'm also watching a set of 307 wheels, which are quite nice too, and the seller assures me they'll fit the 406.

Re: Alloy Wheels - Newbie Help

Sorry to resurrect an older thread, and sorry for sounding like a complete newbie (I am), but ...

My wheels are the factory-fitted standard steel wheels ... what size would they be?

Are the alloys from the 406 Coupe compatible?

How about alloys from other Peugeot models?

My 406 LX 1.8 (Petrol) D9

Image

I love this colour on this car.

I just wish it didn't attract dirt so much; I wash it and it gleams (see the photo :cheesy: ), then the next day it's all mucky again.

Re: external temp reading incorrectly

The sensor is located on the left-side wing mirror (it protrudes from the bottom of the plastic housing). Mine doesn't work either; I either get "--" or some ridiculously high temperature (I recall seeing "78" before, and I've got my console set up to display Celcius ...) I don't know about replacin...

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?

I passed 32,000 miles on mine last night :cheesy:

I've only had her since November, but I've done 2000-3000 miles.

The original owner lived in Glasgow, and probably only ever used it to drive to and from work (it was registered to Britannia Insurance).

Performance Parts

Hello, I was having a browse around Halfords website, and spotted their "Performance Parts" section, in which they list several "Universal" replacement air filters, which are meant to provide "better performance". Has anyone tried any of these? Do you notice any difference? Is there anything really ...
