Re: Newbie says HI!

Hi there

Need photos of that Coupe! :)

Why not make yourself a page on the Members Cars section of our Wiki - http://www.pug406.com/wiki/index.php/Ca ... mbers_Cars

Re: What's wrong with your Pug?

Exterior temp sensor is knackered, so the in-dash display reads "--".

That's it, really.

Re: Engine pic request for the wiki

According to the table on this page - http://www.pug406.com/wiki/index.php/Peugeot_406 - the RFR produces more Horsepower than the RFV. The table was somewhat shamelessly "borrowed" from Wikipedia, though I adapted the links on our "borrowed" version to point to the articles on our Wiki. I have no w...

Re: Engine pic request for the wiki

Took a reasonable snap of my engine this morning; just not sure what type it is

Mine is the 1.8l 16v petrol-engined 1999-registered D9, so I'm not sure if mine is an EW7 J4 - 1.8 16V or an XU7 JP4 - 1.8 16V. If someone can tell me which, I'll add my photos to the relevant page.

Re: My new ride

Captain Jack - when you replace the sound system in your ride, would you mind taking photos and making a How-To for the wiki? :cheesy:

Re: Engine pic request for the wiki

Sorry Steve - didn't mean to worry you  I spotted you'd made the article on bleeding the cooling system as a category. I've made the changes for you, and created a "Cooling" subcategory of the "Cooling, Heating and Ventilation" category you made. I also fixed a couple of weird bits of formatti...

Re: Engine pic request for the wiki

I don't know what kind of engine is in mine :cheesy: - it's either :

EW7 J4 - 1.8 16V

or

XU7 JP4 - 1.8 16V

But I'll go and take a photo of it some time this week - need to get some photos of my 406 now that I've got my 307 Rapier alloys on it.

Cheers
Graeme

Re: My new ride

Nice set of wheels, Captain! 8)

Are those 5-stud alloys? I thought the 406 would only take 4-stud wheels.

Also - why not make yourself a members page on the new Wiki? Instructions are at http://www.pug406.com/wiki/index.php/Ca ... mbers_Cars :cheesy:

Re: Anyone up for a challenge?

I've just setup a quick page for this, feel free to add your own info in, or change it round, anything you like really! Nutski, I just fixed that page up for you so that the category system is a bit more structured, and I've put a quick "How To" in on the "Members Cars" category. Hope you don't mind!

Re: Anyone up for a challenge?

Hi there - not sure what anyone else thinks about this, but I don't see the harm in it. Thanks for your contribution :) In any case, I've added the "Knowledge Base", "Engines", and "Petrol" categories to your article, so that it is listed in the Knowledge Base section under the correct sub-category ...

Re: Anyone up for a challenge?

Pretty much perfect - the "Stub" template says "you can help Wikipedia by expanding it" though (think they'll notice?) I don't know anything about templates, or how easy it would be to change that one so it says "our site" or "the Peugeot 406 Wiki" or something other than Wikipedia. A mino...

Re: Anyone up for a challenge?

Steve, Don't worry about it - I can fix any broken content, and anyway, WikiMedia automatically catalogues changes - so I can compare changes and revert any errant changes as needed :) Well done; you've added that in just the right way. You can add sub-categories in much the same way as you did the ...

Steve - give it a go :)

I'm a computer tech, so I probably make it sound harder than it is. Really :)

If you still don't manage it, then why not post here what you want to post there, and I'll put it in for you?

Re: Anyone up for a challenge?

How do I add a "steering and suspension" catagory? On the Main Page, click the "Edit" link at the top right. Scroll down the editor window until you see "*[[:Category:Wheels|Wheels]]" Copy that line and paste it on the line above that (as "S" is alphabetically before "W" :cheesy:), and replace both...

Re: Anyone up for a challenge?

Nutski - any chance of "borrowing" Wikipedia's "Stub" template? Oh, and their "Catdiffuse" template? :cheesy: I'm getting the hang of the Category system; note the "Electronics" category, with the "In-Car Audio" subcategory, which has a "Head Units" article in it. More simple than I thought, which i...
