Central locking and radio

Sometimes when locking or unlocking the car the radio mfd and climate control will flicker on, in extreme cases the climate control display flases in sync with the indicators.
Do these two things share the same earth or some connectors that could be shorting?

Re: Oil Filters - Genuine Vs Aftermarket

Might be something to ask oilman from opie oils whats going on :supafrisk:

Ive always used Mhale filters on the 406, dont think it ever had any other type on it, never had any problems, change it every year.
Great bit of a test you did, 6 oil changes worth of filters then haha.

Re: Pp2000 usb problem

It had been messing about in the past there, but constant unplugging and plugging back in got it working as long as nothing moved. This old toughbook has 2 usbee ports and a memory stick when plugged in works fine. Got the problem sorted on the xsara it was the wires under the seat forgot i saved a ...

Re: Manual Gearbox - what is the point?

I used to think of autos as very weird but after a week with the 305 i now think they are great. my uncle has a chrysler voyager currently as a stop gap while his previa gets another engine, the chrysler is a manual and feels like a horrible like a van, a few years back he had a v6 automatic one whi...

Re: Crunch going into 4th

Two flushes with 10-40 then some Molibbidibbenumumum, is it still working for you steve? Or was this on your 406? It's definitely the syncro, had to be Wikipedia double de clutching  , heard it mentioned in one of the fast and furious films, never thought it would be relevant in a 406. however...

Re: Crunch going into 4th

Is there much to changing a syncro on a gearbox?

Although being a 406 it's probably cheaper to buy a breaker and use its box.
Not a huge issue i can drive away at this until it stops, it hasnt really got any worse

Crunch going into 4th

This is a problem the car had before the new clutch and DMF. But even after they got changed, along with the gearbox oil its still there. If giving the car some boot and going quickly through the gears the shift from 3rd to 4th if done quickly gives a bit of a crunch, it doesn't happen going down fr...

Re: Where's that backplate thread? Ah bugger it.

Quite true i forgot about the heat aspect, the plastic is probably not resistant enough. Although it might still be an option for creating a mould or die. But yes a cad model could be sent off to a machining shop witn the right sort of CNC milling equipment, i think it would be stronger if made from...

Re: Where's that backplate thread? Ah bugger it.

I paid the price for a pair of new ones then went and got them powder coated on top of that, a bloody rip off but a nice sound part of the car now :cheesy: The price seems to stem from the cast bit that the calliper bolts to, but at the end of the day its just riveted to the tin. Im no good at metal...
