Re: WANTED Servo; Peugeot number; 4535 f5

If this is the brake servo you will have fun fitting it unless yours is LHD. It would be easier to fit a remoter servo if you can find somewhere to put it.

Re: Any Recommendations For Timing Belt Kits & Fitting Timing Belt

I get most of my bits from Ebay, a lot of competition there so prices are usually better than elsewhere. Any of the kits you mention are good. Its a long time since I did one, the tensioning is the most important thing. Have a look on Youtube there is bound to be a video on there. I have C5s now, wi...

Re: Sills to be Welded for MOT Question On Painting Sills

Stone chip paint is pretty good, not many colours available but my local garage repaired a hole in the sill and ended up replacing most of it, he painted it with something black don't know what it was. Water drain holes blocked was the cause of the problem.

Re: erratic tick over

Could be the alternator cutting in and out which would alter the load on the engine. Connect a meter across the battery when its doing it and check the voltage, it should read a steady 14.4 volts or thereabout with the engine running. If not check that the belt isn't slipping. Could be the alternato...

Re: Intermittent fumes in car. 2001 406 exec estate HDi 110 2 ltre

Firstly, congratulations on your choice of car, I ran diesel estates for 10 years and I think they are the best cars Peugeot ever made. To check your exhaust for leaks, press a folded up rag hard against the end of the exhaust with the engine ticking over, if there is a leak you should hear it hissi...

Re: Left fender signal light not working

The indicator lamps are fed direct from the ECU so if you have a circuit see which pin it comes out on and trace it from there - or run a new lead.

Leave it open or you will find that the windscreen steams up especially in the winter, it helps keep the car dry. I don't think I ever had occasion to close mine.

Re: ENGINE LAG, POWER LOW

Sounds as though you have a leak in or loose fitting pipe from the turbo to the intercooler, that would account for being able to hear the turbo and the lack of power. Even if it looks OK check it for tightness because if its not clamped tightly it can move away from the fitting under pressure. Peter

My memory is failing fast but I just had an idea that it was the same light - I'm sure someone will tell us.

Re: Pad wear light

I'm surprised you still have them. don't think any of mine did. the wiring to them is very thin and brittle and thin and breaks very easily. Does not the handbrake use the same light?

Re: my pride and joy estate GLX HDi 90

As I have often stated I reckon that the 406 is the best car that Peugeot have made have made. I ran two for 10 years, one for me one for the wife. Probably the most reliable cars I have ever had and not to difficult to work on. Good ride and road holding and amazing value for money, I generally pai...

Re: Newbie!

Welcome to the forum.

I ran 406 Hdi estates for about 10 years and very many miles, I think they are the best cars Peugeot ever made for driving and reliability, they do everything nicely and have a good comfort/road holding compromise. Enjoy yours.

Re: What's she worth?

Have a look on Ebay. do a search for the car, when the page comes up you will see row of tick boxes down the l/h edge of the screen, tick the one marked 'completed sales' and if one has been sold it will tell you the price it made. Yours sounds a bit 'specialist' in which case its a question of find...

Re: D8 V6 brake servo removal know how

Certainly not easy on the 2.0. diesel as the linkage runs along behind the engine. The book suggests removing the cylinder head. The one on my wife's car failed and I wasn't about to take the head off so I sold it, it had done 200.000+ miles though so had earned its keep. It may be possible to move ...
