Re: Voltmeter Fitted
A customer bought one back in the early 80s, with the intention of refurbishing. After he has spent a fair amount of money, and spent lots of time on it, it caught fire one day. He had joined the Capri/Corsair Owners Club and told them about it. "Yes", they replied, "they had a habit of doing that!"...

With regards to CCTV, it is always worth asking for. We managed to get hold of quite a bit just a while back. The Borough gave us copies for free! They also gave us a letter stating that the time stamp was accurate, which was useful.

Re: Dashcam sound
If you present video as evidence, and it has been edited in any way, as far as I am aware, it could be contested that as well as editing out unwanted sound, you could have added it, which would probably make it inadmissable. (Insurance claims could also be affected.) Only edit if you want to present...

FWIW, we all have the power of arrest in the event of a criminal action.

What I always wonder is why is it that people sound their horns when being overtaken dangerously. Why not back off a little and give the overtaker room to get past. It clears the danger much quicker.

Re: Bloody car dealers!
Some years ago I went with a friend to a dealers to look at a car. The guy we spoke to was quite happy for me to jack it up and have a good poke and prod at it, and even offered to put it up on a ramp for me to see. Anyway, about three weeks after he bought it, the HRW switch broke, so my friend pho...

Re: Portable battery chargers
FWIW, with the AA, we had a battery pack with a standard 036 in it. (Mine had been used by a previous Patrol, and I had it for ten years, at which time it was still working well.) It lived permanently connected to the vehicle, so when needed for use it could have up to 14.2V in it. It would start ju...

Re: What do you all think of this video real or fake
I am not sure about the authenticity of the video because of lack of markings on both the car and the 'officer'. As to digging a ditch to drain a road onto another housing estate, I would have thought that would be a civil matter, not criminal. A charge of criminal damage could not be held as there ...

I have heard head units make strange noises because they want clock setting or they are warning they have defaulted to factory settings. Just a thought.

I think the cost would depend on what kind of area your garage is in. Locally, they are up to £125 an hour labour, yet my daughter pays around £45 out in the sticks. For little extra cost, it would be worth having a new water pump and maybe crankshaft oil seal added in.

Re: What do you make of this? Dashcam / main stealer test dr
I know it's not really an excuse, but I have had occasions when a customer has complained of a noise or a vibration at a certain speed, and when on a road with a relevant speed limit roadworks or congestion make it impossible to hit relevant speed, so I have taken advantage of empty roads to get up ...

I was a bit wary about accuracy, but when I checked it against multimeter readings, (I have a digital and an analogue.) it was good. Reads 14.4 engine running, 11.8 with glowplugs on, and battery recovers to 12.5 when glowplugs go off without starting engine.

All rubbers will perish eventually, so it is always worth checking condition. I use a smear of glycerin on rubber to help keep them from doing so. There are proprietary treatments on sale, but I have yet to find one better.
