Re: Bought another 406

My old 1.8 LX saloon was an early D9 (V-registered, 1999).

It had drum brakes at the rear.

Re: Tiny hole in exhaust - how to seal up?

I had a cat-back stainless system designed, built, and fitted (including VAT) for £360 on my Coupe, with limited lifetime warranty. I went for it because it worked out cheaper than buying a complete mild steel exhaust system from Peugeot, which would have been the third such system that had been fit...

Re: Mazda MX-3 V6

An interesting little car, for a teeny tiny price! A tiddly little 1845cc V6 engine - each pot only 307.5 cc in capacity - but producing 130 HP and 156 Nm torque, in a car that weighs just around a tonne, and you have a fun little car. If it's not moved in 6 years, it'll need a fair bit of stuff doi...

Re: 406s summary

I had the 1.8 petrol EW7 engine - simple, solid, and utterly reliable. That car never let me down. The only thing I would say is that the 1.8 petrol is a bit sluggish; my longest drives were on twisty, hilly, single carriageway A-roads, and overtaking was made very tricky by a lack of grunt above 50...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

The airbox on the EW12J4 2.2 petrol engine also has a resonator fitted.

Apparently removing it makes the engine sound epic, but I haven't done that to mine.

Re: SPARE KEY NOT WORKING

Is it not just a case of "teaching" the transponder to recognise the key? Like a proper process for it?

I've never had to do this myself, mind, just seem to recall there being advice on here about how to do it.

Ouch - that's a long scar for a small body!

Glad to hear he's behaving like he used to; it's a good sign that he's not in a lot of pain.

Re: Connects2 on semi-mux 406

I hope I will make it quickly, just to see about mileage. So, it means mileage is stored in some EEPROM in dash, not in BSI? In the COM2000-equipped 406, the mileage is stored in two places - in the clocks, and in the BSI. On startup, the car will compare the two figures, and will automatically ass...

Normally a Smart ForTwo, thereby taking all the street cred you had* from motorhome ownership, and throwing it away.

It is a good idea though. I did see someone towing a Lotus Elise behind a motorhome.

Well that was ... expensive Still on the sunny side of £1000, but not by much. £970 all-inclusive. Similar in cost to when my Coupe got its clutch changed and the brake servo replaced. And just like when I had that work done to my Coupe, it's totally transformed his car, for the better. The clutch i...

Re: Fingers crossed for Rufus

We had a cat who, whenever we put a collar on him, or the vet gave him the Cone of Shame, he would just flop on to his side and refuse to move until you removed it. Same cat used to suck his thumb throughout his whole adult life, right from when he was a kitten purring all the while. The big baby. O...

I'm guessing he'll also end up with the Cone Of Shame?

Scratches behind the ear and belly rubs from all of us. For Rufus, obviously.
