Re: Water pump fixing ?
Can't quite understand that myself unless they have broken a bolt off in the block, I would request further information. I have changed pumps at over 200k and not had a problem. If it not leaking you could leave it for now, I haven't always changed the pump and its lasted, until one sprung a leak a ...

Re: Weird foot pedal issue 406 2001 2 HDI
Sorry to hear of all your problems, I ran 406 Hdi estates for about 10 years and found them to be the most reliable cars I have had in 65 years of motoring, also the best headlights and things just didn't break on mine. I repaired all of them myself. I wonder if possibly the vacuum pump mounted on t...

The high pressure fuel pump that supplies the common rail. You will have to remove the fuel filter to get to it but its only held on by two screws and a connector.

Re: old topic, 406 replacement ?
I have heard that the Octavia and the Superb are both nice cars, a friend of mine has an Octavia, petrol unfortunately, but I would like to get a ride in it just to see what its like. My primary requirements are comfort quietness and economy and I don't think there is anything that gives the ride co...

Re: Are these normal operating temperatures for xud 2.1td? or is thermostat stuck open?
Sorry I forgot about LHD, its the cambelt end. You do have to do it from underneath I'm afraid but if you have a good look at it with a mirror or a camera device would be even better, you will see where the bolts are and should be able to undo them by feel. If you cant see the thermostat just follow...

Re: Are these normal operating temperatures for xud 2.1td? or is thermostat stuck open?
Even though the thermostat is in the return pipe the top hose should get hot and do this suddenly when the thermostat opens. If the hose slowly warms up the thermostat is probably not closing or not completely anyway. Does the heater get to full output temperature fairly quickly, if not that's anoth...

Re: Clarion Radio Reception
Try pulling the radio out and connecting a few feet of wire directly to the aerial socket, just fold the bare end over and insert it in the centre hole. If it works the cable from the aerial is faulty, if it doesn't the radio is faulty. Is the panel light coming on?

Re: Peugeot 406 judder at around 1400-1600 RPM
I haven't personally found that it makes a lot of difference whether the MAF is connected or not. I have had problems with the pressure sensor on the back of the HP pump causing all sorts of problems. There is a very fine filter on them which clogs up, I haven't successfully unclogged one but its wo...
