Re: Clanking noise from engine bay.
Looking at your video, I think Peter may well be right. No fixing here with a new MAF sensor. Seems that oil is leaking into the combusion chambers, then leaving unburnt via the exhaust, together with unburnt diesel fuel. Given that the engine is running relatively "smoothly", I think only one pisto...

Re: Immobiliser fault
Hi frog, How are you? Keeping well I hope. I still haven't got to the bottom of the airbag issue (but to be fair I haven't tried for over a year  ) All fine here, I guess weeds never perish :D How are you doing? Hope all is fine! Such a pity about the airbag, I wish I could help you more here...

Re: Immobiliser fault
Dirtydirtydiesel kindly made the round trip to re-code the keys to the BSI for me so am really grateful to him. Wow, he came to your place and fixed the BSI? Cool! How did he re-code the keys to the BSI? Can that be done "simply" using PP2000? Or does it require unsoldering and reprogramming the BS...

Nic! How did you manage to solve this issue? By fitting a new transponder antenna?

Re: New member, new car. Peugeot 406 Executive, HDI 110, W Reg
Welcome! That is a beauty! :D Very well equipped. HDI's are the best, and the HDI 110 is the best of the best :cheesy: With 100 k miles on the clock it can easily go four times that amount. And the manual gearbox will just keep up with it. Really nice, keep it in this shape. And yes, so nice to keep...

Re: increase in coolant operating temperature after drain, flush, bleed and refill
I've seen this two times; once in my vehicle and once in my brother's. My experience seems similar to wat TS reports: no problem driving on highway, but in urban driving the dashboard light would sometimes come on. Especially when driving uphill, strange enough. In both cases, replacing the sensor i...

Re: Front strut bearing replacement
The metal cup that the top of the spring sits into is well past its best. Are new ones available? You mean the Front suspension rest cups (parts 5031 47 and/or 5031 42 as shown here )? Mine were also not in their best shape, but good enough, so I put them back on. Seems difficult to source new, I g...

170k? That's barely run in
With enough TLC it will run at least twice that amount

Re: Peugeot 406 judder at around 1400-1600 RPM
Maybe it is a bad engine mount?Particularly when the engine load is light, for example driving steadily on a flat road.

Re: BMW drivers, there is hope at last.
Here people say that BMW's are so expensive, that indicator lights are sold as an add-on option.
Obviously, not all buyers have pockets deep enough to purchase that option...

Re: Front strut bearing replacement
If you compress the spring with the strut still in place it comes out easily enough. Id do the drivers side first, no need to remove drive shaft and you'll get an idea of how to do it. Good luck Andy Thanks! You've answered my next question :cheesy: So it will come out without having to remove the ...

Re: Front strut bearing replacement
IIRC it comes as 3 pieces and is a direct replacement for the old one. Thanks Andy, looks like you replaced the complete set. Costs a bit more but it seems the most easy option. Easy enough to do, I hope so :D This guy did it in 17 minutes ! I think it will take me half a day, taking into account m...
