Re: noisy brakes

I had the same experience once after replacing the brake pads of the rear wheels of my wife's car.

Turned out that in the hurry i had put one of the brake pads in the wrong way round (the painted side toward the disc).

Re: Electronic Ignition Fault - Blower motor not working

Is the blower motor also not running when the engine is running?

The blower motor can only run if the engine is running, to prevent the battery from depleting quickly.

Re: 03 control stalk adapter

Nice! Glad you got it all going :cheesy: The stalk is a simple resistor network: each button activates a different resistor (see component "8413" at the bottom of the first diagram on http://406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24546&p=246712&p246711#p246711). Seems like the Sony radio understands this "...

Re: 03 control stalk adapter

Oh, so what happened to ISO 10487 being an international standard? So PAS/Clarion have gone with switched on 6 & permanent on 7 The rest of the world have switched on 7 & permanent on 4 I'm surprised it hasn't caught fire. :cheesy: Here is a schematic that seems to be applicable: http://406oc.co.uk...

Re: 03 control stalk adapter

You might have swapped the permanent +12Volt line with the switched +12Volt line. Looking at the pinout diagram, the ISO connector (8 pins) "A" (outer black one): - A 6 = +12V IGN Power (Switched via Ignition key) - A 7 = +12V Main Power (Permanent) Pin A 7 is closest to the fuse. Re: 406 HPI Estate

There's one for sale here: https://www.marktplaats.nl/a/auto-s/peu ... e=lr&pos=1 .

What is so special about the HPI engine compared to the "normal" 2.0 16V ? 5 more HPs?

Re: Engine Immobiliser Fault

It is probably an electrical failure. Check all fuses first: unplug, check and plug back after spraying some electrical contact cleaner. In a similar way, check also the ground points: all places where a wire is connected to the car chassis. The ground points often rust resulting in poor connectivit...

Re: 03 control stalk adapter

PC39-125 seems to be for CAN bus (search in http://www.armourautoretail.com/sites/armourautoretail.com/files/AL_SteeringWheelControlBrochure_FINAL2_WEB.pdf ) Peugeot 406 does not use CAN bus for the audio system, it uses a so-called "VAN bus" instead. I think that you will need a PC99-213 (click you...

Re: Immobiliser warning light

I think the problem is indeed in the wiring between built-in systems interface (BSI) and engine management control unit (ECU). I looked in Sedre and found the following diagram which i think is applicable to your model: ECU-BSI diagram 406 D9 2001 EW12J4.jpg ECU: 48V MR is the 48-pin brown connector...

Re: 63 MPG! Well impressed!

I have two other hypotheses to offer: :D

(3) Winter fuel has anti-freezing/-waxing/-clogging additives, making it less efficient
(4) Colder air is denser, giving more resistance while driving.
