Re: My GTX

Well it's all back together, and what a difference. It feels like a different car, it picks up better, going up a steep hill near where I live I'd have to drop it down to second gear now it pulls up cleanly without having to drop a gear. It even sounds quieter and less rattly.

Re: My GTX

A bit more, quick mock up of the gasket as I can't get one before next week. Egr blank siliconed in place, also had to elongate the holes on the blank as they were to far spaced apart.

I'll make a neat one while the awful black stuff sets.

Re: My GTX

Well things with the gtx have never been straightforward and fitting the blank has been no exception. To start with one of the allen bolts was almost completely rounded off so was a sod to get off, then I couldn't get enough space to slide the blank in so had to remove the elbow. Wish I'd just left ...

Just slide the blank in, for the same reason.

Re: My GTX

The egr blank arrived this morning, I had planned on getting one for either side of the egr but couldn't find both.

Re: power loss

That's because we're in the old but not old car area. My 924 has just the right amount of electrical crap, electric windows and sunroof and the ignition system :)

Re: power loss

Could be anything from the wrong wheel bearings fitted, wheel sensors covered in crap or dead to a dead abs pump.

Re: 14 Volts with engine running

I'd say try a different mechanic. Most cars charge up to around 14.5v. My gtx is usually around 14.4 and my 34 year old 924 is between 13.5 to 14.2 depending on engine speed.

Bought a few bits for the gtx off ebay last week. This arrived this morning, just waiting for the egr blank to arrive.

Ohh if you do buy it I'd be interested in a couple of parts if they aren't needed.

And finished. https://i.imgur.com/nBIuuAr.jpg The new hard line needed a bit if adjustment to get it into the correct position but not much. https://i.imgur.com/pvyeZnB.jpg I've put a rubber cover over the sharp edge where the pipe goes through the inner wing. The original pipe has a thicker jacket ...

Re: My GTX

So much for an easy job, anyway here goes. The problem. https://i.imgur.com/t29ojwJ.jpg The first problem arose when I tried to undo the flair nut at the top of the flexi hose, judging by the state of it I'd say it's the original and was completely solid and even using a flair nut spanner it rounded...

Re: My GTX

The only picture I got of doing the job as it started raining. https://i.imgur.com/VOTx56Z.jpg Also found that the drives side front flexi hose is almost completely perished where it passes through a plastic sleeve that holds it in place. It's so bad that when you press the brake pedal it doesn't ju...
