Re: Passed mot again!

Well done young man. 8)

They've got a nerve giving you an advisory for an item that's not supposed to be tested, (AFAIK).
:? Come to think of it, my camper got an advisory this year for a corroded main beam reflector.

They don't look great, have you tried a leak-off test?

Re: Silent fan

One of mine stopped working - it was jammed with fine debris.
Try blowing it out with a straw or similar

Re: Air bag fault / warning

To any Mod's still out there that have the ability to edit / remove posts. My last three post's (not including this one) if you read them are slightly duplicated. Only the last one wants to stay, if you could remove the two before it (if you catch my drift) & this one. Also you can now edit the tit...

Re: Flywheel locking tool for 406 automatic

No. The camshaft is still locked so maintains its position relative to the crankshaft, all your are doing is allowing the camshaft pulley to rotate fractionally with respect to the camshaft in order to allow the belt to be tensioned equally throughout its length. If you dont do it this way the tensi...

Re: Flywheel locking tool for 406 automatic

Over tensioning is a possibility, but a more common error is failing to slacken the bolts locking the camshaft pulley to its hub while adjusting the tension. (This allows the tension to equalise on either side of the camshaft pulley, necessary because the tensioner acts on one of the two runs from c...

Hi Kelv, looks like Jasper5 has not been active on the site for over 3 years, I'm sure he said he was retiring.

Sorry I can't help you there.

Re: End of the road I guess…

What your saying is put another engine in? Surely the labour cost for that would be much higher than the head gasket repair though ? Then the cost of the refurbed engine also or buy a second hand engine if you can see it running first, maybe a complete MOT failure car and pay someone to swap them o...

Re: End of the road I guess…

I would have thought you could get a decent engine fitted for a lot less than that. It's rarely cost effective to carry out substantial engine repairs on the unit you've got.

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Sounds like a shrewd move or two there. I've heard about the new car shortage and effect on 2nd hand prices, but turning the situation into real cost savings is impressive. Still not a fan of the whole crossover SUV trend, especially those with may latest pet hate, really difficult to see turn sigma...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Thanks gents, It comes with its own jacks? That's bloody useful! I'll bet those hoops were pricy but it sounds as though you'll get your money's worth. The jacks are meant to auto-level it, which they do on anything resembling flat ground or a gentle slope. Wasn't sure it could do this trick but it ...

The younger generations' budgetting is kinda scary, (he said realising he's turned into his dad). Still who am I to critise after shelling out for a new set of boots for the campervan yesterday..... https://i.imgur.com/98NzZb5.jpg Good of you to bring your own jacks, sir. Turns out 5 of the ...

Nice to hear from you, trust you're OK health-wise? Things is to say the least quiet hereabouts. 2nd hand car prices are baffling, most have gone up but it seems inconsistently. Regarding the extended doggy family fleet.... My bro's got his Merc back on the road after a lengthy spell sorting poor st...

Re: E5 or E10 Petrol

Don't have one myself, but can't imagine anyone with a 2.0 petrol not using E10, given how expensive E5 is.
Maybe ask on the coupe forum http://406coupeclub.org/PHPBB3/
or peugeot forums https://www.peugeotforums.com/
