Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

On the other sh*t: offered on a small house in Oldham. Mortgage company have come back with a valuation £3k under the asking price so if the seller won't budge than I'll have to find it. Irritatingly second hand furniture seems to be much cheaper both in Telford and in Huddersfield than it is in Ol...

Re: Tick tock...

I'm about 18 miles south of all that, and am in and around Bristol regularly. Probably means goodbye to my Golf TDI. If their proposed scrappage scheme of £2000 extended 600 yards over the border from North Somerset into Somerset...., I'd grab it with both hands. ( Assuming, that is, the offer was c...

Re: HDI starting issue

A healthy battery should be showing around 12.6 Volts. My MX5, with its rather old gel (AGM) battery, never shows better than 12.4 Volts. The car starts fine on that. Also on 12.3 if the car has been sat for a week or so. After another stationery week, the voltage will drop to 12.2 Volts. The car wo...

Re: Head gasket repair

I used it successfully on several cars of my own 10+ years ago. At the time it was well known in the motor trade, but almost unknown to retail customers. I set up a website, and over several years up to 2014, sold about 4,000 bottles.  1. I never ever received any complaints about it blocking up wat...

Re: Whats my car worth?

Average life of a car is 15 years. 406's are very much at the point where they're starting to be few and far between on the roads. In your position, if I really wanted to sell it, I'd rectify the things you mention. Then put it up for sale at the highest price you can think of. Someone who likes the...

The new Defender is full of electronics and touch screens, I can't see it appealing to the sort of people who bought 'proper' defenders back in the day, I guess they've targeted those trendy hipster wankers who want to look like they're outdoor country folk when they really live in Chelsea drinking...

Re: Ebay Etc. Just "Run-In" 406s

I tried all sorts of cars that were supposed to ride well Welly - none of them did but this one really blew me away and its dark metallic red, my favourite colour. Yes its an oiler, 2.0 16v a bit of an unknown engine to me but its only done just over 100k miles and the engine bay looks like new, as...

Re: New car suggestions

To replace 1 of our 406 estates I got a 2009 Mazda 6 Estate with a 2.2 MZR-CD 185HP Diesel, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy, Nice car to drive but in the past 12 months its had 2 x timing chains, The first one I fitted at 160000 miles as the original was badly stretched, failed under part...

I 've come to the conclusion that these days you cannot buy a bad car. I refer you to your earlier post. You took what I said completely out of context by deleting half of the quote. I don't appreciate that. I've come to the conclusion that these days you cannot buy a bad car. You get a car with fa...

Thanks for this - will take a closer look.
