Re: Sat Nav REMOTE !!

Hi Folks, just thought I would say that I managed to get a sat-nav remote and a disc for £40 from eBay, but people seem to be more aware now about how much they are worth...! I simply lend mine to my friends with 406's twice a year to adjust their clock. rwb is spot on with description for using the...

Re: FAP problems..

Hi Doggy, thanks for the tip. I am in Bournemouth but I am happy to travel say 50 miles or so for some friendly help. I can probably borrow a laptop but as you say, best find a genuine siemens 90 remap file first..... I won't tell the insurance company as I already pay £350 a year for a dog slow est...

Re: FAP problems..

Hello, just thought I would jump on the Galleto bandwagon, is it really that easy to remap an Ecu?? Why do some people advertise they can remap your car for £300 when the tool to do it yourself is only £20...!! I only have an Hdi 90 siemens, so if someone as a remap file for one of these to give it ...

Re: are mpg computer accurate,im getting bad mpg

Both Lozz ans Pavlf are right. Its nice to know what your car can achieve in mpg but don't let it stop you having a bit of fun while driving....
Nothing wrong with a fork in the sugar bowl, I've even told my little boy that if the ice-cream van is playing music - it means they have sold out..!!

Re: are mpg computer accurate,im getting bad mpg

Opposite for me, I loved to drive while staring at the trip computer to see how my driving increased mpg. I found getting speed up early and then feathering throtle worked for me. If I changed gear too early while accelerating it would labour too much. I do get 45mpg round town but then again there ...

Re: Clutch Switch..... what does it do??

I don't think the switch is faulty as when it is plugged in and you dip the clutch everso slightly, you can feel the car " pick-up" a bit, so the switch is doing something. Mpg is better unplugged as less throttle is needed to get it going as the flat spot as you pull away has gone. It did flag up a...

Re: Clutch Switch..... what does it do??

Ignore that last post, unplugged it again but pushed it back in place as this was the best alrounder for performance and smooth gearchange....

Re: are mpg computer accurate,im getting bad mpg

Hi codgod, to be fair I know nothing of the sender units as I am only a basic fair weather mechanic not really a specialist. Floats don't normally go wrong as it is just something that floats, but you could look at the sender units wiring and general condition before taking the plunge and replacing ...

Re: are mpg computer accurate,im getting bad mpg

Maybe your gauge is faulty, you can cover around 350 miles on the top-half of a tank if you are careful. On two occasions my gauge ( and trip computer ) has lost a quarter of a tank of fuel, saying I have much less than when I turned the engine off 20 mins earlier, only to give it back a few days la...

Re: are mpg computer accurate,im getting bad mpg

Can I throw my tuppence in too?? When I first got my Hdi90, I was getting a disappointing 40mpg round town and 45mpg on a run. I drive like a blind pensioner so I couldn't understand why so low. Now I have learned that it is not engine revs that matter, its the throttle position on my car. Try it, g...

Re: Clutch Switch..... what does it do??

The story so far, unplugged clutch pedal switch 2 years ago to improve performance and perkiness, which worked a treat. This made the car a bit stuttery changing gear and sometimes stalled on cold mornings but learned to live with it and changed my driving style to suit. After reading the responses ...

Re: Clutch Switch..... what does it do??

I just tried to adjust my clutch switch so I can plug it back in and it just spins round and round..... I did also spot that it is attached to another wire that plugs in to a black plug behind centre console, that is still plugged in. If I can remove the clutch switch then I will replace it and see ...

Re: Clutch Switch..... what does it do??

Okay, thanks. Should I replace it with a new one so I can plug the lead back in? As it runs better unplugged does this mean its faulty?
I guess no damage is being done but I suppose that a working one should be there. ...

Clutch Switch..... what does it do??

Hi, new forum user here - just been reading posts and I am surprised how complicated the Hdi is. Quick question - when I bought my 52 plate Hdi90 a few years ago, it was very lame indeed. My friendly Hdi mechanic looked under the bonnet and took up the slack in the throttle cable ( I was only ever u...
