Re: Engine management light is on

Hi Ed, I don't think there is anything to worry about unless engine goes into limp mode, which makes the car - well - limp. Mine comes on once every couple of weeks and stays on for a day or so, but I know I have a dodgy electrovalve ( light comes on when going round long sweeping left hand bends, d...

Re: Marmite car

Looks quite nice to me. I like the silver and chestnut combo - although I find it hard to tell difference between chestnut and tan leather
I don't think chestnut / walnut go together well, that's why mine is now tan / black ash ( got rid of walnut )

Re: Injector testing and replacement

Thanks CJ, nice to have it in laymans terms.

I will test it later this week, will take a back seat as starter motor just failed on my 2.2 so may rob the 110 if its the same??

Will probably strip the 110 anyway, would be nice to find the fault just so I know what it is......

Re: 99 D8.5 HDi110 GLX

Hi, I would definately collect the starter on-route. £8 is a snip and if you fit it then it means the winning bidder can drive it back and can be taxed too ( on their behalf ) as it it MOTed. This makes a much better proposition for the watchers - it would certain help clinche the deal. I sold my ol...

Re: d8 saloon towbar removal

Hi, its not a bumper off job on the estate - I can't imagine the saloon being much different.
Have a crack, see what happens.

Re: Injector testing and replacement

Hi, I recently bought a mint '03 plate 110 for a couple of hundred quid, to use as parts for my 2.2. I only wanted the wing and tps but as it turns out the list is now on 21 items...!! My dilemma is, it starts fine, everything electrical is working and only need front discs for MOT, but when engine ...

Re: Replacement daily hack!

Well done fella, great work and great pictures.
I have learnt more about engines looking through your thread than anywhere else..!! You are doing the things I want to do but have no idea - but at least I can see how things work.
Keep it up - can't wait to see the next chapter.

Re: egr fault

Lots of info on here about EGR removal or replacement. It seems the pro's to cleaning and keeping the EGR is that the engine warms up quicker and you don't need to remap the car. The con's are having dirty exhaust smoke and having to clean it again someday. Mine has been removed and I am very happy ...

Re: unlocking itself..

Hi, mine does this too, but only if a door or bonnet is open or ajar.
Maybe double check all is closed properly and if it still happens then it could be an open circuit or bad connection somewhere?

Re: Sunroof Drainpipes

Be careful when shoving wires etc down the tubes When I first did mine, I gave the wire too much welly and pushed the tube off the spout at the sunroof..!!! I only noticed when I flushed the tube out to test it and the whole jug went all over the inside of the car. I did curse a bit.. :x Now I undo ...

Re: Converting to 7 Seater

Went to DVLA today to sort outpaperwork and I enquired about the conversion. They said that as long as I change the seat number on the V5 and send it off then no problem, the taxation class and the cost stay the same.

Just looked at the DVLA website - looks like cars I p/ex were scrapped straight away but nice to see some of my family's old cars made it up 2001..!!
Luckily (?) I'm a bit of a number man and remember all old cars reg numbers......

Re: Disappearing Cars?

Try a website called ' howmanyareleft.com' or something like that.
Surprising how many some of the cars I used to own are on there. Should have kept them all in a barn as a little nest egg for the future....
