Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Thanks Highlander. All the paperwork suggests it is a 110. Ran the RAC data check and it states under the 'Engine power' that it is '109bhp' - is that not a 110? Wondered if there is a remap for the 110 and is it worth the effort and cost. There is a remap for the HDi 110 which should take it up to...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Thanks Ben. Drove it back today and made it home, eventually. I don't know if it is the fact it is a diesel, or an automatic - probably more the latter - but have to say it is a bit of a disappointment after years with the 2.0 petrol. I am aware it is underpowered compared to it but wasn't aware ho...

Re: Wind noise

Door / window seals sounds about right to me. I had wind noise on my old Clio and it was that.

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Thing is, the DPF issue is probably easily solved by someone who knows how to sort these. It might be that the DPF fluid tank is actually empty, they didn't really pay for it to be filled up (or they did, but got utterly fleeced), or that after filling the tank, the car hasn't been driven for long e...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Worth also keeping an eye on the "Coupes For Sale" section on the Coupe Club forums. Buying a car from a long-term member of the owner's club is generally a good move; chances are, they will have posted about any problems they may have had and how they solved it, and will generally have looked after...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Well that would explain the lack of power, at least.

I think you made the right choice in walking away. Good luck with your hunt!

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Am keeping an open mind now regards the V6 - again, can't hurt to have a look! Insurance must be a killer though, no? Insurance firms are a bit weird sometimes. Case in point - several years ago, I mused at the idea of buying a Maserati 3200 (but didn't, and am glad, as the bugger would have bankru...

The non functioning bits and bobs I can attend to. My life with my GLX was a constant voyage of discovery and repair, so am prepared to get involved fixin' stuff! Wonder if the Coupe wing mirror motor parts are the same as those on my D8 GLX? Probably not but, as I will have to now scrap mine, mayb...

1. drivers electric mirror not working (nearside ok). Plastic trim cover for mirror fixings missing inside.....hmm! Does suggest that someone's had a go at trying to fix it. 2. passenger fwd/back switch not working (but motor runs both directions when seat back is moved, to allow access to rear sea...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Couple of things to note about the V6 vs the smaller petrol engines: - the road tax for the V6 and the 2.2 petrol are exactly the same (because of the emissions bands defined at the time) - the 2.2 petrol is more fuel-efficient around town, but the economy during motorway miles isn't all that differ...

Re: the flywheel, when is this likely to need changing and how would one tell? Is this a likely maintenance issue? I've never owned a diesel, or any car with a dual-mass flywheel. Someone else here would need to advise you on that front. Regards the DPF, if I am to take this car for a test drive, i...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

The 2.2 HDi engine is hard-wearing enough that 130k miles is "just worn in" really. Keep them maintained and they will run forever. There are a couple of caveats with this engine that you won't have had on your old car. Firstly, the engine is new enough to have a diesel particulate filter installed,...

Re: car manual

Cruise control faults are generally caused by faulty switches at the pedals. To disengage cruise, you have to press either the brake or clutch pedals. Each of those pedals should have a small switch attached, which we know sometimes break. On newer cars, the cruise control system is operated by the ...

Mirror Controls

Hello I've had a spot of bother with my door mirror controls. The rotary joy-switch thing has been going haywire - in the left position, it does nothing, in the right position or centre position, it controls the right mirror, and occasionally locks / unlocks the doors ... And the mirrors have sponta...
