Re: New Wing

Captain Jack: It is for the D8. It is the same shape, (except for damage), and the fittings and cutouts that I can see are identical to the one already there.
PeterN: They don't list one in their EBay shop, but you could always ask them.

New Wing

I bought this the other day, and when it turned up, I could hardly believe the condition. All the covering paint intact, and not a single ding or dent anywhere. I have seen worse being delivered to bodyshops, and I don't think I have ever seen a panel fitted without the need for some 'doctoring'. ht...

Re: Turbo new owner

A lot depends on which engine you have, and how you drive it. In normal driving mode, mine hardly ever kicks in as it is electrically adjusted, although if I floor it, the turbo comes in about 1500rpm. On my 1.9 DT, it would come in at about 2000rpm if I caned it, but if I accelerated gently, I coul...

Re: B&Q closing 60 stores

I live in an area where the houses seem to change hands quite frequently. Every new resident seems to have nothing better to do than run hammers and power tools for three months after moving in. It puzzles me why people buy a house in the first place if it does not suit their needs. I look forward t...

Re: Electrical whine sound when accelerating

FWIW, I noticed a bit of a whine on my 306DT just before the power steering pump failed. From the time I heard the noise until the pump literally fell apart was around 25 miles. As I was heading home at the time, I decided I would sort it out next day. Battery held up fine for the remaining 25 miles...

Re: Anyone tried to buy a cheap car latley?

I certainly agree that the used car market is full of pratfalls. When I bought my Fiesta some years ago, I saw some real lemons advertized as 'immaculate', which I wouldn't even describe as 'good condition for year'. As for the 406, most of those I looked at had dings and dents, high-ish mileage and...

Re: Top Gear's back this Sunday 25th Jan

I don't think he should be replaced. Just let the program 'die'. It was probably one of the most entertaining programs on TV today, and should go out on a 'high' instead of dragging on. I think their 'ambulances' was one of the most humorous builds they have done in a while, and I would rather remem...

Re: Installing brake lines

Yes, you could vacuum them out. I have a vacuum fuel drainer, and by adding 'step-down' pipes, we tried it out on the last bleed we did, and it worked fine. This is the type I bought. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6L-Syphon-Hand-Pump-Diesel-Oil-Fuel-Water-Petrol-Extraction-Transfer-Litre-Fluid-/40071878...

I found that my reversing lamps are next to useless when It comes to lighting up enough for me to see where I am going. I replaced them with these. http://www.bltdirect.com/20w-12v-replac ... twinspotnm As is usual for me, I paid the £2.14 for them just before they were reduced. :(

Flat Battery for the first time

I went to start the car Monday night and discovered a flat battery. (It is down to 6.5 volts.) So yesterday I took it off to charge and fitted the other battery I held back when I got rid of the 306DT. It was ten days since I had last used car.I did an amp check before connecting - terminal and foun...

Re: Rustproofing/longevity underneath a car

I have always had great success with Waxoyl covered with Body Schutz. (Wait till the Waxoyl has 'dried' before putting Body Schutz over the top.) A very messy job, and I buy a big cheap plastic tarp to do it on, which gets thrown away afterwards.

Re: Radio malfunctioning after battery disconnect

I am wondering if the yellow gizmo is a 'choke'. Stops electrical interference from affecting radio through power source wire. (Does away with the need for any suppressors, and I remember having to fit suppressors on alternators, wiper motors, heater motors, electric aerials, windscreen washer motor...
