Re: For Sale: 406 2.0 HDi SE (Lightly remodelled)

Get your offers in - This 406 must go in the next fortnight Apologies to all that have PM'd and stuff, I've been so busy travelling with work (and having sporadic net access) that I haven't been able to arrange any meets and collects. Rest assured I'm back in the North East now and this is at the t...

Re: For Sale: 406 2.0 HDi SE (Lightly remodelled)

Just filled out the SORN, have been quite busy recently and unable to update this thread. The car is still available, I've been meaning to snap off some closeups of the wheels and related for a few people who contacted me but I've been missing the sunlight hours. Tried lifting the bonnet catch the o...

Re: For Sale: 406 2.0 HDi SE (Lightly remodelled)

damn it shame those seats won't fit an estate i've been looking for a set for ages. A long time ago, in a galaxy not too far from here, I used to drive a Ford Capri but really, really liked the interior out of an RS Turbo. Cue one sunny Sunday afternoon, a few jars and I managed to get them transpl...

Re: For Sale: 406 2.0 HDi SE (Lightly remodelled)

If it ends up breaking how are the doors? I was planning to spruce mine up but they'd be a straight swap, even the right colour. Keep me in mind Will do, the doors are immaculate. There's no rust, marks or dents on em - even after the remodelling  Based on all the PMs I've got I think I'll jus...

Re: For Sale: 406 2.0 HDi SE (Lightly remodelled)

I'll lift the bonnet tomorrow and take pics for ya. It's a 110 model and I'll throw in the Galetto tool as well as I was going to get it chipped before this happened. As for the price, feel free to make an offer that you feel is fair as I'd rather it go to someone from here than eBay. Note, the car ...

For Sale: 406 2.0 HDi SE (Lightly remodelled)

Here we have a lightly remodelled 406 HDi SE of the 2003 variety. As you can see the drivers corner is a tad crunchier than the rest due to a disagreement with a feral roundabout that appeared out of nowhere in a dingy industrial estate. Pre facelift the motor was as sound as the proverbial pound an...

Re: Remap Query - To Cat Or Not?

Fark.

Looks like the remap won't be happening, hit a roundabout today whilst driving around a darkened street trying to read directions off the back of a pack of Rizlas.

Seems there'll be another 406 for spares or repairs up on here...

Re: Remap Query - To Cat Or Not?

I found this thread: http://306oc.co.uk/forum/thread-41.html Whilst searching for decats and it seems to be quite a bit more complicated than just whacking a crowbar in order to get all the bits and pieces out. Does anyone have any pointers on where to get a replacement bit of pipe that fits instead...

Re: Remap Query - To Cat Or Not?

Interesting, how would one go about smashing up a cat in that way then?

Re: Remap Query - To Cat Or Not?

Thanks for that, I was just thinking if its worth it overall in terms of the a) the extra expense and b) how much I'd actually gain from doing it.

I could apply the remap and EGR for about £110 and off I go, in order to get the exhaust taken out it will probably add another £75 to the job.

Remap Query - To Cat Or Not?

I'm considering getting my 110 HDi remapped using HDI-Tuning to boost it up to 130/140ish and was wondering if its worth going through the extra hassle and expense of replacing the cat with a straight through pipe and removing the EGR valve? The simplest option would be just to leave everything as i...

Re: Noise at low speeds/when cold

If it was the Crankshaft Pulley it would make the noise regardless of being in gear (regardless of the car moving in fact). Easiest and cheapest thing to try is the gearbox oil and if that don't work then at least you have new gearbox oil :supafrisk: Will do, is there a guide on how to do this for ...

Re: Noise at low speeds/when cold

No, no knocking on full lock. Just at low revs and in a rate that seems to be tied to the acceleration. I don't think the cars ever had its gear oil changed, but I did notice today it only happens when you're in gear - no knocking when freewheeling or standing still so you could be right. I thought ...
