FS: 1996 406 Executive 2.0 Turbo Petrol

Before I stick it on Ebay where it will undoubtedly be scrapped and the engine used to go into a 205GTi I thought I would let someone on here have a chance to grab it. Family owned 406 petrol turbo from new. Great little runaround for the family and a very comfortable car for those longer motorway j...

Re: Loss of Power/ Turbo Boost

Ok an update on this, After the recent flooding and me enjoying driving through deep floods the Turbo is now working again and it pulls well in every gear. The garage said it was seized solid but I guess not something that some rain water could shift or somehow fix. I will keep the car until it fall...

Re: Loss of Power/ Turbo Boost

Well I did get it finally checked after changing the solenoid valve which didn't fix the issue. The Turbo itself is seized. I have been driving the car without a turbo and it is fine around town but I doubt it will be going anywhere near a motorway as it is gutless. What to do? Replace or have the T...

Re: Very late Turbo boost

Glad you got it sorted mate. I only stumbled across that video in a quest to diagnose my own turbo issues on the old trusty 406 executive turbo. Problem is the Turbo is now seized and as I was given the car I have to decide if it's scrap time or reapir with a chuffing big blower and get the thing ri...

Re: Turbo troubles

So new Solenoid ordered which fixed one issue on the vaccum but the turbo is seized solid. Decisions Decisions. Do I scrap the car as it's pretty much BER or do I replace with a recon unit?

Re: Loss of Power/ Turbo Boost

So I had a look at some of the hoses and found a split in the hose which comes from the airfilter box. I have circled it on the following picture in red. From the diagram I can see this is part of the vacuum system as in some pics I can see a BOV connected to the other end. I guess the question is w...

Re: Turbo troubles

Gents the issue described in this thread is exactly what I am experiencing in my 8v Petrol Turbo.

Did this ever get sorted in the end mjb?

Can someone point me to all the turbo hoses to check?

Thnaks

Phil

Loss of Power/ Turbo Boost

Hi All. Have a 406 Executive Petrol Turbo 2.0 (1996) and just this morning I heard a slight whistling noise of the turbo and since then it seems to have lost power as though the Turbo doesn't kick in and obviously this hinders progress. I had a quick visual and aural inspection of the vacuum hoses b...

WTD: 406 Executive 15" Steel Wheel

Hi All, The rim is so bent on the offside front that air leaks from it if it is not topped up every few days. I need to replace the rim with a standard executive wheel but for love nor money cannot find a replacement. I don't suppose anyone on here has a spare they want to sell? What are the other o...

Looking at replacing the 406 with a 407 Executive HDi but really struggling to find one out there as everyone realises just how good value for money they are!

Re: pin pad codes

I looked at the back of the immobiliser keypad on my D8 and the loom doesn't look like it can be unplugged. Any ideas how to bypass this annoying box?

He got rid after a £3,500 repair bill when the sequential gearbox broke.
Yep mine's just had a new SMG box on it at a few K! Luckily I have a warranty on it so it was covered. Not cheap to run! 11MPG!
