Hi guys,
My xud has started intermittently not wanting to start. When she does go I get a cloud of black smoke. Once started, she runs fine.
It happens when warm or cold.
Any idea where to start?

Re: need a plumbing solution
Not sure I'm following Welly. Would I need to stretch one end of the clear pipe to form a seal against the 20mm pipe? I had thought about something as simple as an elastic band on the end of the pipe. This would create a step for the returning water to climb over, though I'm not sure of the physics ...

Re: need a plumbing solution
I was thinking maybe bend the pipe using heat, then stuff something through it so it forces it straight, push it through the wall, remove whatever you made it straight with... However Dummysock is right, it's the only way to do it that'll work and it isn't a bodge either. This is where you say you ...

Re: need a plumbing solution
Thanks Jasper. I appreciate how it should be done correctly, though there is no suitable internal drain as it's in a back bedroom. There is, however a trough section of the downpipe from the gutter just a few feet away from the outlet. Trouble is it's 3 stories up and I don't have either a long enoug...

need a plumbing solution
Ok guys and girls, I realise I'm way, way off topic here, but I need an ingenious plumbing bodge and thought of you. If your collective minds car repair fuel flaps with peg springs, this should be a doddle. The heating, along with new combi boiler was installed by the brother in law last spring and ...

Would that be a cheese shop?
Let me put it another way: if they were standard on an F-Type would it put you off?

Just spotted, though sadly seems to be in every flavour except the 'walk like an Egyptian lion'.
Thoughts?
Classy? Cheesy?

Ha!
That exactly what she's wearing now and I'd rate them as well below par for a premium brand. Even when fairly young they offered up less grip than a gloveless man climbing everest.

New tyres
I know the next thread down is about tyres, but I'm not quite in the same boat. A quick check today on what were moderately worn tyres last time I looked reveals I'm barely legal on all corners. Looking about £60 a tyres seems about the going rate for anything that's not a Russian remould. Yet I rea...

Re: Speaker mounts
it's the usual 6.5"/17cm speaker that's in there. Why do you need the rings there? They are screwed onto the door card, which is screwed onto the door (same set of screws). Exactly that. Ideally we want the most solid mount possible for speakers - actually concrete or even granite is the ultimate s...

Speaker mounts
Ladies, Gents. Anyone know the size of the front speaker mounts in my D8 estate? I'm trying to collect everything I'll need before pulling off the door cards and installing. Laziness, would be an accurate description I guess. I'd like to grab some MDF rings but unsure on thickness. Then half a ton o...

Re: Just hit my neighbours car
Hehe yeah. We've had do's before over parking, nothing major but he has a constant bee in his bonnet about the length of my car. He got all excited when he saw me building a drive out the back of my house, then wasn't impressed when I put the caravan on it  A local bodyshop think it might even ...

Just hit my neighbours car
Argh, bad morning. I stayed off work because I'm full of cold, then ran my little girl to school and came home to go to bed. My street is made of really narrow houses - my estate is longer than my house is wide! So, both my neighbours either side insist on parking exactly outside their house. They'd...

Re: I've been driving 'wrongly' for 25 years....
That's one of my pet hates; bikes drop speed so darn quickly, especially if you're flicking down the cogs. The number of times I've nearly plowed into the back of them, caught of guard with such deceleration and no brake lights.....
