Re: Crankshaft End Diameter for Speedi Sleeve Fix

Hi Steve

Yes, this is a possibility, although I'm doubtful.

But ideally I want to be able to give my garage the correct Speedi Sleeve when I give them the car, so they can crack on with it. Particularly as they're not familiar with the product.

Cheers

Crankshaft End Diameter for Speedi Sleeve Fix

Hi Gents My 406 2.1TD Executive 1998 has developed an engine oil leak, which two garages have told me is the crank shaft oil seal (the one closest to the gearbox). So it's a gearbox out job, which my garage are going to do. Apparently this rubber radial seal at the end of the crankshaft can actually...

For Sale '98 Saloon 2.1TD Executive manual 1 year MOT

Hi All I'm going over to the dark Volvo side - I laughed when I just saw that section and the 'resistance is futile' comment! I need a smarter car for my work, and something a bit more powerful for longer 5 hour journeys to my parents off the radar in north Norfolk. I'm selling my beloved '98 2.1TD ...

Engine Diagnostics Warning Light Coming On

Thanks for your replies Peter I (or accurately my local garage) has found and ordered a second hand one for me from Ebay for £200 - exactly the same as the old one apparently, so I'll see if it's a gamble that pays off. I was thinking about bowing out of the old girl, but this latest round of expend...

Re: Engine Diagnostics Warning Light Coming On

Thanks for your suggestion Doggy... I've today had the fault diagnosed as the fuel pump... I understood they said a Delphi pump was used on this model (1998 2.1TD), but not for long as it was too expensive to use and repair. Specifically, they said it's the fuel adjustment governor within the pump t...

Fuel pump on the way out

Hi Gents Further to my earlier post under electrical/diagnostics about engine cutting out when driving hard, I've today had the fault diagnosed as the fuel pump... I understood they said a Delphi pump was used on this model (1998 2.1TD), but not for long as it was too expensive to use and repair. Sp...

Re: Engine Diagnostics Warning Light Coming On

Thanks for this Xarlitos No I haven't had the turbo or cambelt looked at. The cambelt was replaced at 118k miles, so it's on my imminent mental to do list, although I probably wouldn't replace it just to see if it cures the problem....Catch 22?! The only engine oil I'm referring to is where I've ove...

Engine Diagnostics Warning Light Coming On

Hi Gents I own a 1998 2.1TD Executive saloon, manual - 186k miles. During a long 5 hour each way trip this weekend, whilst gunning it quite hard up a hill, on two occasions, the engine cut out, steering went heavy and Engine Diagnostics Warning Light on the dash came on. After rolling into side road...

Needle lift injector (aka control injector) ref. number

Hi Ladies & Gents I have a 1998 406 2.1TD Executive manual. It's been faltering and engine rattling for some time, and so today I had it in to an injection specialist. They have diagnosed the needle lift injector (aka the control injector) has had it - apparently it's identifiable as the only inject...

Air Bag Warning Light - Bingo!! (and broken seat warmer)

Many thanks for your advice Gents - sure enough had a wiggle with the orange connector block under the passenger seat and Bingo, sorted!! That put a huge smile on my face on wet miserable Monday morning! Oh, and as mention was made of the bum warmers, the one on the driver's side doesn't work.... An...
