Re: Remote Central Locking - Lock Switch

Thanks all - ordered a set of switches from Ebay - would be interested in doing it myself anyway. Had bought a case already, so not worth sending out to have it reconditioned. Will look into the liquid solder in Maplin also. It's an easy job, if you are local I can do it for you, only take a couple ...

Remote Central Locking - Lock Switch

Strange problem someone may be able to help me out with. The rubber button to the lock the car on my remote key came off recently and I ordered a new key case to replace it. The remote lock was still working until yesterday when it just stopped all of a sudden. I opened up the key to take a look and...

Re: Anyone with a HDi Auto?

I've had the car a few months now and I have a good grasp of how it works. It's strange, but there's a bit of a trick to getting it to kick up a gear. It could absolutely do with another gear though, 4 just isn't enough and it's not great at motorway speeds. Is there anyone else on here with the AL4...

Re: Anyone with a HDi Auto?

Just a quick update here - I had a chance to measure mpg over the last fill and averaged 40.55mpg with a mix of long drives and 2 weeks of urban driving. Thought it'd be worse to be fair. Trip computer measured 37.4.

Re: Anyone with a HDi Auto?

Based in Dublin. Haven't had a chance to measure mpg yet, but should be able to in the coming weeks. The majority of my journeys are relatively short though so mightn't be a good representation.

Re: Anyone with a HDi Auto?

Auto's always feel like that. You also have to consider the gearbox in the 406 is basically 3 speed with overdrive. There is quite a gap between 3rd/4th so it may need to wait for revs to rise enough before it changes. Thought it might just be me alright, thanks. Might just take some getting used t...

Anyone with a HDi Auto?

So just to preface this - I'm new to both the diesel and auto world so my concerns may be nothing to worry about. I've had my auto HDi estate for about 2/3 weeks now and there's something that bothers me slightly which I'm not sure is a fault or just different to what I'm used to. I've always had ma...

Re: 2.0 HDi Basic Servicing Parts

Not sure if I'd be comfortable tackling a timing belt given the consequences if not done right. I've done all my own servicing, brakes, discs The consequences of fluffing a job and knackering the engine in a stationary car, are greater than the consequences of fluffing up a change of brakes+discs? ...

Re: My first experience selling a car...

Selling cars is always a pain. I've just sold my old Primera and I'd a fella call me straight after it went up on Donedeal saying he'd come out and take a look at it for half the selling price if I asked him nicely. A lot of weirdos out there. Had a few offers on it for the price I wanted but was wa...
