Re: POWER STEERING RACK, REMOVAL

Problem solved - I rotated the rack 180° (so stub faces back towards rollbar), and it slides out the passenger side (LHS on RHD car)

Re: POWER STEERING RACK, REMOVAL

Thanks Peter, I'll try that. As you say, I probably only need to undo the bolts a bit...

Re: POWER STEERING RACK, REMOVAL

I'm having exactly the same problem. Did you resolve it? Do I need to drop the subframe?

The Haynes manual says the rack should just slide out, and various posts online say the same, but mine won't go, the steering column stub is about 2cm too long....

Re: Steel Wheel Bolts

A brief update - it turns out you shouldn't use the alloy bolts on steels long-term. They have a smaller taper, OK for short-term use of the steel spare, but longer term I've had one wheel come loose already, and the MOT man just pulled me up on it, and pointed out they were causing wear of the tape...

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?

Ha, just stumbled across my old post from 2011 - that old Pug reached 330k before I scrapped it (body rusting away, still running fine) and bought a "new" one with 230k on the clock, immaculate exec model, £500 bargain :cheesy:

Re: Airbag Diagnostics

Thanks for the comments. I tried marking the airbag as absent, but this caused a "misconfiguration" fault and the airbag light stayed on

Re: Airbag Diagnostics

I've sorted this, thought I'd post a few tips in case it helps others. The problem turned out to be an intermittent contact in the connector on the back of the com2000 module. I did the following:- I bought a PP2000/Diagbox adapter https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078Y46K9J/ so I could read and ...

Airbag Diagnostics

I've had a good read of various airbag threads on here, not found my answers yet so hope you don't mind a new thread... I have a 2004 406 exec, airbag light on constant, local garage diagnostics say driver side trigger, so I'm assuming the squib or com2000 module. Couple of questions:- a) to check i...

Re: Steel Wheel Bolts

Thanks all, what a great forum, much appreciated. I didn't realise I could use alloy bolts on steels, great tip! I've ordered the set suggested by caprixpack and will use alloy bolts in the meantime. Thanks again!

Steel Wheel Bolts

Any suggestions on where to buy 8 used wheel bolts for steel wheels, 2004 2.0HDI 110 estate? I'm switching from alloys to steels, had hoped to get the bolts cheap on ebay but all I can find is new ones for £4.44 each, hadn't budgeted for that! I assume I need 52mm ones, e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i...

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?

Just passed 222k miles on a hdi 110 :D It needs a bit of money spending on it (clutch, cambelt, tyres etc) and I was thinking of replacing it, however seeing this thread has made me realise it has loads of life left! What really amazes me is it still doesn't burn any oil - does the 12k between servi...
