priming bulb
what would cause the primer bulb to go (semi) soft overnight? how does this cause poor starting? and how would I cure it? 2.1 td.

2.1 antifreeze?
can anyone tell me of a decent cheap antifreeze that would be suitable for my 2.1 td? ive read lots of differant tales regarding colour etc, would tesco's stuff be any good?

Yes I did but im going to double check it again tommorow,ive done over a thousand miles since the belt change and although it still take a while to start and still rattles a bit it does pull like a train and tick's over sweetly and the smoke has largely dissapeared since a bottle of reddex and a goo...

I think at the back of my mind I know youre right Jasper, but I think this time id sooner pay someone to do it! hopefully it wouldnt be too much if all parts are provided? out of work at the moment so funds are somewhat tight!!!

2.1 timing belt out?
since I changed the belts a couple of months ago the car has been hard to start,taking up to 3 pre heats, also its got a really irritating tapping/knocking, a bit like a really bad tappet, and its also puffing a bit of grey smoke on hard acceleration,all of which it never had before, what id like to...

2.1td wiper stalk
is the end of the wiper/wash stalk meant to twist?(mine doesnt) and does this also control the rear wiper (estate) if it does can it be dismantled for repair/cleaning?

There should be a bit you press in on one of the collars (black bit that doesn't move with the headrest) - push this in and shove the headrest up, it should keep on going and land in the back somewhere... I have nothing like that Steve, one large slot where the two pronged clip goes, and on the oth...

rear headrest removal
how do I remove the rear headrests in my 1997 2.1td estate? ive taken out the clips and they lift so far but no further.
any ideas? ive got a load of junk to take to the tip soon so need all the room I can get.

I didnt disconnect any fuel lines,just moved them out of the way, but i'll try the bulb tomorrow morning.gumby6371 wrote:Did you disturb any fuel pipes?
try the priming bulb in a morning, if it's soft you're probably leaking air into the fuel system.

just checked the glowplugs and their getting getting power so i suppose the belt must be out slightly, im gonna have to live with the slow starting, I dont want to see that cambelt again!
