Sold: 2002 406 saloon 2.0 HDi 90
SOLD This may be a long shot, but I'm not having much luck selling my 406 in Ireland so far. Probably because of the punitive motor tax here - €710 for a 2-litre on the old system (pre-2008 cars), i.e. a lot more than what the car is worth! I'm selling my '02 406 HDi 90, it's a Rapier but no...

Re: Wanted: Passenger wing trim
That one on eBay is about £19 incl. shipping for me - a bit too much for a tiny piece of plastic!
I would be happy with a used one if anyone's breaking a car here.

For sale: Starter motor for 2.0 HDi
I have the original starter motor from my '02 2.0 HDi. I replaced it after having trouble with cold starts but my problem turned out to be the EGR valve...
It's made by Mitsubishi Electric - I can get the part number if required. May fit XUD and other engines.
€30 (£23) o.n.o.

Wanted: Passenger wing trim
I'm looking for the passenger side wing plastic trim (with chrome) for a '02 406. Like this: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/NEW-GENUINE-Peug ... XQBlJSASI5

Re: Lights flickering when idling
I ended up not doing anything about this issue, until earlier this month when the alternator pulley started making an awful racket. As I said last year it would sometimes click when idling, but it suddenly got very noisy when cold and at idle speeds. At least it didn't spontaneously disintegrate, li...

Re: Rear driver's side door and boot leaking
Ok I took off the door card and found the sheet was in surprisingly good shape: IMAG0231[1].jpg The clips didn't break either, which was a pleasant surprise :cheesy: But the problem seems to be this corner: IMAG0229[1].jpg IMAG0230[1].jpg There's a gap in the sealant right were all that brown shite ...

Rear driver's side door and boot leaking
I've noticed the rear driver's side door occasionally leaks leading to a slightly damp carpet, but some serious rain this week has prompted me to actually do something about it. After some testing today I've noticed that water seems to build up in a spot between the bottom of the door card and the r...

Re: Bit of a wet floor
I must check that out. Was it hard changing the seal? And thanks for the link. I noticed the boot floor carpet would occasionally be a bit damp around the edges, and then investigated further on Friday to find the spare tyre was quite wet and rusty :( But I believe this is a separate leak to the doo...

Re: Bit of a wet floor
My estate had a wet floor in the rear for a day - I thought the kids had spilt a drink at first but it came back after I dried it. Turned out to be the door seal, hard to tell but there was a trickle running into the car when I opened the door. Took the seal off my donor car and all fixed. Maybe yo...

Re: Replacement starter motor for 2.0 HDi - recommendations?
I bought the starter from aapoldham on eBay as below, and it's been good so far. The cranking speed is significantly faster, and it seems to start ok on cold mornings - no more comically slow cranking and being surrounded in a cloud of smoke. Hopefully it'll stay like this when it gets colder. The c...

Re: The Quest for the Holy Pollen Filter
Your old one isn't dirty, it's a charcoal filter! Not sure if joking but it's not. I bought it new three years ago and it was a white paper filter. 6447.S5 is the standard filter - there is a charcoal filter but it has a different part number and I got some ridiculous quote from the dealer parts sh...

Re: The Quest for the Holy Pollen Filter
The Mann filter? It didn't seem to fit at all. It was either slightly too wide or long.rwb wrote:Only ever the cheapest that eBay would sell for me.
Have you actually tried it?

Re: The Quest for the Holy Pollen Filter
How very odd. The foam strip round the side sounds familiar, but whatever filter I got it always fit the hole satisfactorily :? Did it have the four small plastic tabs on the sides? These clip into holes on the intake assembly, and I don't know how the filter would stay in place without them. Do yo...

Re: Lights flickering when idling
Oh, that looks nice and modular :) I see there's a few different possible Bosch or Valeo alternators that could be fitted to my 406 - I guess I would need to find out which one first. Service Box lists a regulator component for each one. Does anyone have experience dismantling alternators? Is it dif...
