static water injection (wallpaper steamer)
Hi guys, found out about static water injection from veg oil diesel forum the other day and thought i'd give it a go and share my experience. Basicly i have a 405 td, running on svo which was a bit down on power/hard to start. So i took the intercooler off and stuck a wall paper steamer down into th...

Re: 1997 1.9 diesel: reasonable fuel consumption?
Hmm, that does seem a little low... i get 46-47mpg from mine around town on veg oil, and thats with 15" Nimrods on it with 34psi in the tyres. As Gary says a good service with oil and filter change should see an improvement. Welcome by the way

Re: 405 on veg oil... hard/impossible to start
ALL SORTED!! Thanks guys for all your advice.. I checked the glow plugs and timer.. they were fine, so i followed your advice on putting 250ml of 2 stroke oil in it and 3 litres of petrol mixed in with 5 litres of fresh diesel outside the car.The old oil is still in there as it will mix in within th...

Re: intercooler and intake problem
All it is is vapourised oil... its due to the fact that the oil gets so hot and vapourises and makes its way past the seals.

Re: New ( to me ) 1.9 DT Estate ... no turbo?
I had a similar issue with mine... turned out to be the actuator rod had siezed... get under the car and you should see a rod with a nut on it going into the turbo... you should be able to pull it by hand (it is under spring tension). If not, then it will need a good soak with Wd40. I found it easie...

Re: mr clutch
I had a clutch done at Mr clutch.. car was a previous 405 1.9td. On driving the car home the coolant light came on... so i stopped to investigate. I topped it up and drove it to my local garage who told me that when they were doing the clutch they (Mr clutch) must have pulled the gearbox over toward...

Re: 405 on veg oil... hard/impossible to start
Yes Gary it's a 1.9td. I took the strainer out of the tank last night to discover it was spotlessly clean. I even stuck my hand/arm right in the tank to see if i could find and crud in there but all was clean. In the bit where the strainer sits there was a cloudy white film on top of the oil.. i dip...

Re: 405 on veg oil... hard/impossible to start
Thanks for the reply, i only put 15ltr (about 1/4 of a tank) in as it was an unknown quantity... it does seem a little down on power too. I thought about putting diesel in it til its gone but didnt want to end up draining the diesel out too if it didn't work :roll: Plus the thought of going to a gar...
