Re: Help Please.... Mot Failure

Easy Job.

Regarding the rear tie rods. Buy a new subframe cam bolt and washer from the Pug dealer. Done this job on 4 separate 406's and each time needed to change this bolt.

Good Luck

Re: Boot lock broke?

I have a boot solenoid in the garage.

I had to change the ignition switch on my previous d9 (twice!!) and the scrappy would only sell me a complete lock set, hence I now have a lot of lock spares

I can sell you the solenoid for £5 plus P&P if interested

Re: ABS/RELCUTOR ring sizes??

Just had the same problem with my 53 plate 2004 HDI s. After much research and deliberation, I found that I could get a reluctor ring for £20 plus P&P or, get a whole new C.V joint and reluctor ring for £36. Needless to say I changed both front C.V joints (both rings had broken). I have the old relu...

Top strut bearing

I need to change the top strut bearing on the swivel hub. My question is, if I was to jack the car up and compress the coil spring, and undo the torx screws on the top mount, and sperate the mount from the strut, could I change the bearing without taking the strut off the car (saving the need to sep...

Re: Can't get dip stick in tube

Made up a flexible drill bit using a sullivan snake (Model airplane control rod) and a cut down 3mm drill bit stuck in the end. After much "reaming" using the bit, I was finally able to reliably put the dip stick from my 2004 HDi 90 into the tube. I rave about the reliability of these cars, but it's...

Re: Can't get dip stick in tube

Thanks for the suggestion.

It's not snapped.

Tried turning it 180 degrees more than once, always snags on the same point.

Any other suggestions

Can't get dip stick in tube

As a diligent previous owner, I dipped the sump before in preparation for transfering ownwership, now I cant get the dip dtick to go all the way into the tube. It sits about 70% of the way in. Anyone come across this before. Is there a simple fi...

Re: HDI Whine - PAS Pump or alternator

Well, I've run without the auxy belt and the engine is sweet! I've fitted a new crankshaft pulley when I did the timing belt, so I know that this is not the cause. I have stripped and rebuilt the PAS pump, whitemetal bearings, no wear at all. Tensioner and idler seem O.K Sandin aircaon compressor is...

HDI Whine - PAS Pump or alternator

My car is making a whining noise which changes pictch when I rev. It is something on the aux drive train. I have taken the belt off and nbotice that there is abit of axial play in the PAS pump but no radial run out so I think the beraings are alright. The alternator seems fine and turns fairly easil...

Re: cam belt change

Try TMS motor spares. I have a 53 plate 2004 HDi 90 S and got a genuine corteco crankshaft pulley for £48 inclusive of VAT Gates timing belt kit was £58. I use them because they are 2 minutes from my house, but I have been hard pushed to find anyone cheaper. Timing belt is fairly straight forward. M...

Cat D Write Off

Guys, Looking for some advice. I am on the brink of buying a Cat D write off 406 HDI 90. LIght front end (Looks to be as simple as bonnet, bumper & lights) The whole write off thing does not worry me as I currently run around in a Cat C HDI 90. What does worry me is buying the car without a V5. I ne...

Re: coolant light

Is it the coolant high temperature or coolant level? Coolant high temperature alarm, apart from high temperature, can be caused by the dual speed relay on the coolant fans being knackered. If this is the case when you put your A/C on, 10 seconds later you will see Coolant temperature high on the mes...
