Re: 406 D9 LX & 2.0 8v turbo free

PM Sent, Hopefully I've done that right cause it appears in the "outbox"...

Definately best to come have a look. If i'd have thought someone would want to finish it off I would've kept all the spares I had accumulated.

Cheers,
Andy.

406 D9 LX & 2.0 8v turbo free

Hi all, It's been a couple of years since I've had a 406 (running anyway). A while back I had an accident in my sri and decided to try and put the engine in a D9 shell. Anyway I lost interest in the idea and the shell and engine have been sat on my mums driveway for about 2 years. Well she has now g...

Re: gti-6 advantages

So it might be worth using the whole gti-6 cylinder head on a 1.8/2.0? I suppose then to see the best gains the ecu would need remaping unless a gti6 ecu would work in the 406. Only theoretically speaking, I don't plan on doing it.

Re: gti-6 advantages

Does anyone know if you could fit an entire GTi-6 head? and would there be any advantage to doing so?

Sri turbo engine into phase 2

Hi all Not sure if this is the right place for this post so let me know if its wrong. Anyway I have a phase 2 406 1.8 16v shell (D9??); it’s an early phase 2 with the old 16v XU engine as apposed to the newer EW engine. I also have a crash damaged SRI Turbo and wondered about the feasibility of putt...

Its done 120K and not had an oil change in 30k, its always been the work horse car. I've had a look through the oil filler and theres appears to be very little oil in the head when running compared to previously. I'll try getting the rocker off to have a closer inspection next weekend. I'll let you ...

Noisey 1.8 16v

Hi I was just driving my mums 406 which is a 1.8 16v and quite quickly it went from sounding normal to sounding like a diesel engine. After having a look under the bonnet the sound is coming from the head. I opened the oil filler cap and there appears to be no oil getting to the head. My local mecha...

Thanks matey. Hopefully this will help me. My mum has a 1.8 16v XU 406 on a T plate. Would the TPS fit from that? not permanently obviously but just while i test it?

I shall change the plugs at the weekend cause its worth a shot and they're cheap. Throttle pot had crossed my mind with the thought that it would be making the ecu think the throttle was open when its not? Hopefully it will be that and not something expensive! lol

Well i figure that modern (or at least semi modern) fuel injected cars shouldn't be putting fuel in when i let off the accelerator. Though it doesn't always backfire when i let off. So i'm at a bit of a loss.
