Re: Lift pump problems

Thanks for the replies,

When I am there tomorrow I will check the fuse and that switch thingy up near the bonnet hinge :cheesy:

Of the 4 wire in the connector block on the pump do you know which ones operate the
pump and what ones operate the fuel gauge.

Many thanks

Re: Lift pump problems

Thanks for the reply Lozz

I'll try that tomorrow when I go over there.

What and where is the Inertia switch?

I have a Haynes manual, I'll have a look in there but I've never found them that useful

Re: Sick 406

A bit of an update :) I bought a code reader today from a local factors and tried it out, seemed to work fine and come up with 4 different fault codes, all of which translate to "circuit malfunction" so I'm guessing the problem is most likely to be a bad earth somewhere, what do you guys reckon? Fau...

Re: Sick 406

thanks for your reply, I had a look at the footwell connectors anyway and they were bone dry and corrosion free so ne problem there.
It will have to wait until next week now to get the codes read, how much can a code reader be bought for?

Many thanks

Sick 406

Hi fellas, my car is sick :( I bought the car (Rapier saloon 2lt HDI on an X plate) at the end of september 2010, the only problem I had was I broke the air mass thingy whislt giving it a clean, that was very soon after buying the car. Re: climate control problem

Hi Ade,

I'm fairly new to the 406's but used to have a similar problem with a 405, with that it was the connector going into the blower so it may be a good idea to check that first, it's situated behind the glovebox and not too difficult to get to if your a bit bendy :cheesy:

Cleaner for injectors

Can anyone recommend something that can be mixed with the diesel to help clean the injectors.
Do these mixtures really work or are they a waste of money?
The engine is an HDI 90.

Many thanks

Re: Fuel filter change

Car running ok now, no faults showing and running out of limp mode :cheesy:
just a bit of smoke when pulling hard in higher rev's, maybe a drop of fuel addative will help out there.

Big thanks for all the advice recieved.

hdi90 fuel line

On the flow pipe in the engine bay above the hp pump the flow pipe to the filter goes through a black box and then down to the filter, this black box has a plug with a couple of wires going to it, what is it for? is it a solenoid, fuel cut off valve or whatATB

Re: Fuel filter change

And so the saga continues, Collected the new air flow thingy but noticed that it was slightly different inside, the two fine wire bits looked the same but the bit at the bottom with the bobble on top was shorter and came out horizontally, the original came out horizontally then pointed up at an angl...

Re: Fuel filter change

Hi all, I checked the air flow meter and one of the two delicate bits of wire are broken  I must have done this when I was giving it a wipe out the other day, I'll try and source a secondhand replacement as I suspect buying new would cost an arm and a leg. Also there is a connector directly be...
