Just sold my 406's estate & saloon, wanted to say thanks to all the contributors and people who have offered tips & advice.

as I no longer own a 406 after 14 years this was by far the best forum i've visited

Unbelievable same thing has just happened to mine Parked up over xmas with a glowplug problem repalaced the plugs with bosch ones stated the car and backed off the drive with a grinding noise and drove back on threw the keys back on the rack!!! can you recommend a supplier and parts list & how hard ...

That Blower problem again!!!

Finally got round to looking at the wifes 406 td fan problem at the w/e, the usual move the wires it worked/let go it stopped!!! Undid the 3 screws and removed the orange? coloured 4 wire plug and took it to the shed. Sprised the motor from the housing (gently) with 2 large flat bladed screw drivers...

Just got my 406 1.9td back from my mechanic mate, the power steering packed up last week and whilst repairing it he found the bottom crank pulley had cracked and become loose. Hello All thanks for the idea!! i have ordered a new top hose £12 + vat and will use the old one to replace the bottom hose.

Will post some of my other struggles when I get the time

checking glow plugs!!!

Thanks for the reply Steve, I have been surfing all afternoon after giving up on the haynes manual, took me ages to do what seemed an 'easy' job :shock:
I suppose it goes with owning older cars.
