Re: Alignment after front spring change.
I have been using a very good and friendly Peugeot mechanic for many years - a bit like have a Jasper5 a few mins down the road. He is an old school mechanic, uses his eyes, ears and experience to sort stuff out - and he will only replace what is worn out, so he did just one drop link, and just one...

Re: Alignment after front spring change.
Changing springs shouldn't have any effect on the alignment unless it changes the ride height. Contrary to popular belief tracking errors will not cause the car to pull to one side - unless its a very long way out, its more likely to be a faulty tyre or suspension damage affecting the camber or cas...

Re: Alignment after front spring change.
I never do an alignment after a spring change and have never experienced any problems. It doesn't matter at all whether you change a spring by itself or as pairs. Try convincing a customer that the £120 to replace a spring should really be £240 to change both when only one is broken! Many thanks in...

Re: Alignment after front spring change.
It is good practice to do a alignment check after replacing any suspension parts. You don't have too but uneven tyre wear will ensue, but you should always replace spring in pairs, so you pays your money & takes your choice  . Too be fair a old worn bushes, high millage 406 will wear the tyre...

Alignment after front spring change.
Had a new LF spring fitted at last ( I know, I was a doofus just having one fitted....) . All original components refitted. The shop wants to do an alignment, not the usual guys who were excellent, which worries me. Car is a finger and a half higher on the left, steering wheel is still straight when...

Re: Front suspension spring broke
Bottom shelf on the strut...where the bottom of the spring fits. If you fix a couple of blocks of wood between the bottom spring mounting and the inner wing (top spring mounting) you will be able to move the car....shouldn't be too much of a problem if you have cut out the spring. If you haven't ye...

Re: Front suspension spring broke
Curious if I have dug myself into a hole................. My LF spring broke on the small diam bottom coil, the spring dropped and jammed between the inner fender and the wheel. As the car was nose first into the garage and not drivable, I came up with the idea to cut the broken spring out so I can ...

Re: Winter storage, battery out ?
Thanks jasper, I'm convinced. The possible scenarios are frightening !!
Although my pile is a 2000 model with basic level of equipment ( no idea if it has BSI or DIAG ) , I don't need the risk.

Re: Winter storage, battery out ?
I recently bought one of those Lidl chargers. I also have a spare battery that sits in my kitchen. For quite a while now, once a month I'd put the battery on charge (with my old charger). It never seemed to need much, if any, charge. I put it on the new charger the other day, With the LED display i...

Re: Winter storage, battery out ?
Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately the garage doesn't have access to electricity, and if it happens, l will not be around to do start up. Although the way it started in -2C recently after sitting outside for three days makes me think it will need a new battery anyway :( and it's only 3 years old ...

Winter storage, battery out ?
I may have to lay up my 2000 406 HDi over Feb/Mar and the garage will for sure get below freezing. I was going to remove the battery but am wondering if will this cause some problem with the ECU memory or other electronic gizmo ? Thanks.
