Starter Motor

I have a 2.0 SE Petrol 2001 model coupe. I have also posted in the alternate Coupe forum but as the engines are identical, I am asking here too. Please can I ask for advice or experience. The starter motor has failed and I have removed the original. Source a Delco/Remy remanufactured unit and it is ...

Re: Seat Problem ...

Thanks for the advice - sorted! On the outer rail of the Passenger side is a 5mm diameter rod and there was a little plastic slider, possibly and end stop. Out of interest I pushed it forwards, then put the seat back to look under the front. The problem stopped! When I have more time, I'll look in m...

Re: Seat Problem ...

Why do you suggest the ECU? Clarification: The engine has an ECU (Engine Control Unit), found in a plastic box in the engine bay. The seat has an ECU (Electronic Control Unit), found in a housing box under the seat itself. The seat ECU is very basic, looking after the memory functions of the driver...

Re: Seat Problem ...

Try pulling the seat fuse and see if it's still draining the battery. It do rather sound like the ecu has failed. You could try fitting another - there are a few about (even I have one  ) - where abouts are you? Btw you'd probably be better off asking over on the coupé club forums for this on...

Seat Problem ...

406 Coupe 2.0 SE with electric seats Background: On Monday, lunchtime the alarm went off - went out no signs of anything so put it down to vibration and as I did not have my keys, just left it. Then late afternoon I went out to the car and my key transmitter would not unlock the car, so tried the ot...

Re: cruise control

Thanks. Appreciate all the replies. However sounds quite dangerous to be looking for a light on a switch under the dash whilst driving. Is the light visible if you depress the switch with the ignition on but no engine running? I believe the engine may need to be running - but the vehicle does not n...

Re: cruise control

Almost right ... Press the button by your right knee next to the headlight angle control. It should illuminate, and there is no other illumination. In teh on position it is actually recessed and when off flush with the surroundings - so you can still tell if it is on/off. Push the stalk UP to engage...

Starter Motor

I have seen the thread about checking a starter motor and am 99% confident mine has failed. I was sluggish for a couple of days and then just stopped - recovery driver was fairly certain too. Bump starting worked but lights fully bright, and do not dim, electrical connections fine &c so it is probab...

SAT NAV updates

I am new here but a friend suggested that you may be able to help! Cars are not really my speciality - but if anyone has an ADSL issue at home that they need advice on, I can probably help. There are a few old threads but not one that seems to cover my problem. I have a 2001 406 Coupe - owned since ...
