Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
I'm one of these lazy work-from-home software developers now, so I've gone from about 700 miles per week to next to nothing which is a bit embarrassing. And annoying because I don't have the opportunity to enjoy one car let alone two. Just spent £500 having the 407 polished and ceramic coated. Want ...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
...so...
...it's been a while...
Am mostly on the Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/167513193293719 now.
The 407 has just rolled over 230k; still love it.
The C6 is glorious but expensive and I hate slushboxes.
And I'm still convinced that the 406 is probably the best car I'll ever own.

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
Otherwise not good. Micropanther died in July. IMG_20200223_134945~01.jpg Purple Bricks have just taken £899 for 11 viewings in 13 months. Not one offer. I guess my option is how big a loss to make. Office is still closed so Oldham house is empty. Tried to rent it but the greedy council want £500 fo...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
It's scrap. :( It's been at Mechanic's since March when it dropped its coolant and now he's gone out of business. Tonight the remote central locking doesn't work (but the alarm does) and the key won't turn in the lock. It'll be £140 to get it transported, probably going on for £2k to fix, the...

Re: AL4 Auto Box - Anyone performed the Borg Warner Solenoids upgrade?
Hello, excuse me for being a bit late to the party... Here are the docs for the AL4: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NQM-61MBwy51y4VOeCTOik2otjwGLLOd Other points: * Sealed for life" is a vicious lie: change the oil. Use only Esso LT71141. * Most of the oil is hiding in the torque converter and th...

Re: Air doser Hdi 90 delete?
There is no point disabling it. It has two purposes on the HDi 90: the throttle fresh air when the EGR is open in order to increase the amount of exhaust gas being recycled, and to slam shut when you turn the engine off which makes shutdown less wobbly and prevents run-on. The second function you wa...

Re: Wet sanded my headlights
I paid a grown-up £30 to do mine. I'm told it's important to apply a good UV sealant or else they'll quickly go yellow and you'll be locked in to a never ending cycle of polishing. I've been asking around for ages and he was the first guy that didn't look at me like I'm stupid (which, it's a fair co...

Re: deadlock
You know the thing on the driver's window where there's an extra position in the switch: first position to move the window and second position to move the window all the way.
Well all four need to be like that for full shut.

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
The ECU knows that something is up because it sees more fresh air coming in through the MAF than it was expecting when it's opened the EGR. This logs a fault in my 2007 407 but doesn't summon Aunty Pollution.
It is a shame about the C5; it sounded like a really good idea.

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
The Bastard 307 From Hell did something similar -- if not used regularly then the battery would flatten. A solar panel charger thingy made no difference. Auto electrician couldn't find anything. However, independent former Citroen tech and specialist in folding hard tops had one (also RFK 2.0 180 pe...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
Interesting... I was expecting somewhere near the crank pulley that runs the timing belt. The 2.2s and the 2.0s are all the same block (aren't they?) so I'd expect them to be in the same place. I believe they're the same part: 1920.EH. In any case: if it's not in plain sight then I'll need a grown-u...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
Good to hear from you aww shux  ...just drove it dragging a wheel, banging it up and down kerbs until it let go. Not that I'm suggesting you do this with the 407 mind. I imagine it's probably going to work out something like that. Sometimes the C6 is a little reluctant to let go but to date i...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
Cutting it fine: as I arrived at Mechanic's on 12th March it left a puddle. Water this time; there are three weak points in the cooling system and it was booked in to have these parts changed and a cam belt. It's now stranded there. It's going to have to be SORNed. Just taxed and insured the 407 at ...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
Just checking in... It's been a tough month living in Telford and working in Oldham, but Oldham house has now completed so I'm starting to get some time back and I've got some work to do that I can actually do. House was a bit grim to start with as it had been tenanted and left in a bit of a mess. F...
