Steve /dmin .. Been many a moon since my last post.. Old age (84) and vision issues doesn't mean I've deserted the best looking car to come out of France since the Facel Vega ! Now into my second 2004 406 Hdi and it has been as good and reliable as my 2001 first ! Query.. Blower Motor resistor modul...

Re: 2002 diesel diagnostic

More importantly as the years go on the question is what pc/laptop operating system you want to use. The cheaper versions appear only to offer Win98/ XP and Win 7.. If it is your intention to stick with your 406 coupe for a few years I'd go for this.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXIA-3-PEUGEOT-CITR...

Re: Electrics all off

What is it with Peugeot electrics/electronics!

Only a guess and thinking 406 a bsi reset sounds good or couldn't this be a key/transponder fault?

Re: Another 307 issue BSI has lost VIN code

Well Trump came up Trumps Doggy so no reason why you can't do same with the 307.. We're all with you plus magic learning-curve.. I was going to suggest (and it still is a simple switch-over) to just go for new Key/BSI replacement and leave old ecu in situ to see what result you got.. Bag of nails do...

Re: Another 307 issue BSI has lost VIN code

Thank you for confirming, with any luck the said items should be delivered today........ Pse note I did say to the best of my knowledge as you should easily be able to change over the plip pcb and battery from the new key to your present one which should save on changing ignition barrel/door locks/...

Re: Another 307 issue BSI has lost VIN code

To the best of my knowledge all you should need is ECU, BSI, Ignition key/transponder all from the same vehicle ie matching units.. Around 100 quid on ebay.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-307-1-6-16v-hdi-ecu-bsi-key-and-transponder-2004-2008/141957172081?_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1&_trkparms=ai...

Re: Another 307 issue BSI has lost VIN code

There must be a simple answer to this and G-forbid it doesn't lie in "well proven"(note the exclam marks) Peugeot ECU or BSI..
I wouldn't even think that water ingress can be the cause but probably your first starter for ten is making sure with another Pug that your VIN return/Pp2000 is erroneous..

Re: Anti Pollution Fault

Thanks GM.. Would you believe the fault has cleared itself and I no longer have the APF warning so it couldn't have been something life threatening. Old age maybe but this is the down-side of the 406 if the owner doesn't have accessto Pp2000. I have the P fault chart and the link may be of use to so...

Anti Pollution Fault

Got the dreaded APF warning. Car starts and runs as per normal eg no rev or apparent performance restriction. The engine diagnostics warning light stays on permanently and the APF warning comes on immediately after starting then goes out after I drive off. PP2000 doesn't show any specific fault and ...

Re: sidelight playing up PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Assuming this problem is while the car is running and not battery dependent and other lights function perfectly normal? Sounds like a faulty positive outgoing or ground return on the sidelight circuit.. For starters I'd check battery negative for a good connection then go into engine compartment and...

Re: Starting problem..

Thanks Steve.. Looking at the flimsy plastic encapsulated starter switch and assuming the starter solenoid drawing up to 8 amps plus at switch on? A lot of spark and subsequent carbon deposit on the switch contacts over the years.. It won't deter me from buying another of the most beautiful not to s...

Re: Starting problem..

Posting above refers. Was just about to go down the road of the solenoid by-pass switch and was doing a bit of ohmic metering on the faulty ignition switch plugs and cables etc when I noticed on turning the ignition key to full on/off/on/off a very a small flicker on my Avo8 multi-meter. Gave the ig...

Re: Starting problem..

As the old gel is almost ready for the knackers when the MOT runs out (unless I can get a trade in) have decided in the interim to abandon the idea of a new ignition switch plus cable(s) change and go for a mod ie bridging the starter solenoid to B+ via a self return switch.. Reason being have the o...

Re: Starting problem..

Just found this Youtube video entitled Key Barrel, Ignition Switch, Stalks, Steering Wheel, Clock Spring and to which I'll add for search purposes Immobiliser, Dashboard and Instrument Panel removal which others may find useful. It says the key transducer/immobiliser is clicked into place. Fingers c...
