Re: snapped spring

I've just got my car back from the garage with a new spring and a new top mount bearing. The cost, £100. But now the washer bottle is empty so something has happened to it, probably while getting it on or off the truck. I'm hoping it's just a pipe that's been dislodged but I won't know until I take ...

snapped spring

Hi, I have just been away for the weekend and done about 450 miles without incident. A few hours later I got in my 406 1.9td estate and, BANG, a front spring snapped. As I'm not very experienced with things like that, I don't know how to fix it. The trouble is that it is pressing against the inside ...

Re: Starter motor FIXED !!!

PLEASE BEWARE EVERYONE. Do not hit a starter motor. A lot of modern starter motors have perminent magnets which are bonded to the inside of the starter motor and are quite fragile to impacts. If you hit them you are at risk of causing these magnets to break up and jam the whole motor solid. I know t...

Re: cig lighter

Hi, have you made sure that you have the polarity correct. The center is positive and the outer is negative\ground. I know this sounds obvious but sometime we overlook the basics and get ahead of ourselves. My socket did the same so I bought one from Maplins which needed a slight bit of adaptation b...

Re: fuel flap

I had the same problem with the broken plastic. I bought some self adhesive rubber feet from Wilkinsons and stuck them on the inside of the flap to correspond with a fixing screw head. That just enough springing to push the flap open when the released is pulled.

Re: 406 cigarette lighter- HDI 2.0 W REG

Hi, i bought an accessory socket from Maplins for £4.99 to replace the broken one in my 1997 D8. I had to file the hole in the center consol slightly but it wasn't a hard job. Just make sure you get the polarity right. the centre is positive and the outer is negative.

Re: rear seat belt

I have solved the problem on a perminantly temporary basis. After a visit to another scarpyard this morning (sat), i found a grey lapbelt out of a Suzuki Swift which fitted ok. I will now take it for an MOT retest and it should pass as that was the only thing it failed on. I still want to track down...

Re: rear seat belt

I guess I'll have to continue trawling the internet and get round some ore scrap yards. I have thought of another option though. I know where there is a seat back that would fit but in a different trim. so i could always fit that and get a set of good quality seat covers. my boss got some for his BM...

Re: rear seat belt

I've spotted a belt on ebay but I've cut the carpet on the back of the seat with a sharp knife at the point where there is a slight bulge, which i assumed would be where the inertia machanism is situated but all I found was that the seat back is made of a sheet of steel. My other thought was to fit ...

rear seat belt

Hi everyone, I have just bought my first Peugeot, a 1997 1.9 TD estate and I think it's a gret car. Even all the electrics work. The problem I have is with the rear center seat belt. Having looked on the site, I find that everyone has had trouble with these jamming but the previous owner seems to ha...
