I guess my input isnt wanted on this forum then

My area of expertise is fueling and electronics on HDI engines, 3 times i have had people tell me i'm wrong on here, so i will leave you all to your misinformation from other members and find myself somewhere a bit more technical and friendly than this place, i wont be posting on here anymore, but i...

Re: Rear View Camera Location suggestions ??

thats a nice little screen, i fancy one of those too now !, have you got a link to the auction at all ? As for camera placement, i would put it at the top middle of the rear window, but within the wipers arc, and point it down enough so you can just see the bumper for close up reversing, but get as ...

Re: 1999 HDi engine swap - Engine back in

sorry to hijack your thread Jon, but this will be my last post off topic! (sorry!) 'Where those bolts and slots are fitted, they are only there to aid the fitting of the belt' Where do you get that information from ?, its completely wrong ! 'you cannot alter the valve timing by moving the pulley unl...

Re: 1999 HDi engine swap - Engine back in

I've used the mark the belt method before on hdi's too and never had any problems afterwards, there isnt anything wrong with this method, but it was just the book method is different i have only done about 10 hdi cambelts, so far less than you. It was just something i remembered from my hdi training...

Re: 1999 HDi engine swap - New question - Help required agai

Even if you fit the belt with timing marks lined up and locked with a pin you still have to remove the pins to tension the belt, so it doesn't matter if you mark the position of the pulleys before you remove the belt or lock up the pulleys with a pin. My view on using locking pins is that there is ...

Re: code reading PO 100 on my 406 HDI?

is that the right code ?, it sounds like you used a generic code reader and its displayed a random code !, and if it is a generic scanner, they quite often done even display the proper codes that show where the fault is, i have scanned with a generic one before and found no faults when the engine li...

Re: 1999 HDi engine swap - Help required - Now with Pictures

That 'large metal part' is the coolant manifold and its only held on by 4 or 5 bolts, i wouldnt bother trying to modify it, just swap them over with a new gasket, its only a 10 minute job On the wastegate, again i would just swap your manifolds over from your existing engine, its an easy job to do, ...

Re: HELP with engine replacement needed!

The valves dont bend on the HDI engines as they are flat against the piston, you will have just damaged the followers and possibly the cam, piston and/or crank damage is rare so pull the head off and have a look first to assess it, you can pickup good hdi heads on ebay for about £100 complete with c...

Re: Steering Wheel

a 2003 steering wheel will have the horn in the centre of the wheel i think, whereas your car will likely have it on the left stalk, and the connectors will likely be different too once you have the airbag off, i have taken loads of airbags off and on, and i just disconnect the battery, wait 30 mins...

Re: New turbo or Recon?

how about getting a refurb kit and doing it yourself ?, i did a saab petrol turbo years ago and it is suprisingly easy and quick to do, the kit cost about £60 and had new seals, bearings and other bits in it to do the full refurb with, you just need to take the turbine out of the housing and measure...

Re: 2000 HDi 110 Running Temperature

sounds about right to me, they have an 83 degree C stat in them so it will hover around there in the winter and does take quite a while to get there unless you are on the boost all the time. One thing i have noticed is that the dash gauge can be quite a bit out compared to peugeot planets temperatur...

Me and Littlelad are just going to have to agree that we disagree !!, i believe that adding oil is beneficial and extends the life of the fuel components, and Littlelad thinks its smoke and mirrors and not worth doing, nothing wrong with differences of opinion, the world would be a boring place if w...
