Had nearly the same symptoms on my old 306 1.9d, exept both the rev counter and speedo would shoot over to full for a few seconds after starting, then drop back to normal. Turned out to be a dodgy battery of all things.. Changed it, everything went back to normal! No heat in the glowplugs would expl...
