Re: banging/clunking

the anti roll links are the most common, just grab hold of it and see if it moves around a little (it runs from near the bottom of the shocker up onto anti roll bar).

cost about £15 for the part and prob half hour labour to change. I wouldn't (and didn't) change both sides.

Re: Stereo too loud!!!

Personally I don't think there is a setting, if there was it might be switch on the head unit or require the head unit re-programming, or a soldering iron. If you have the JBL system you should have a cd changer in the boot (or the cables to put one in if someone has removed it) so why do you want a...

Re: Stereo too loud!!!

Nah mate, exactly the same headunits are fitted to cars that came with the standard speakers or ones with the JBL "premium" speakers & amp, so there must be a setting somewhere. Someone's had this before.... was it Supa??? Damn my memory's getting crap, must be my age! What was I saying? :fr...

Re: Stereo too loud!!!

basically the problem is your new head unit has a in built amp, you are then connecting it to the (power) amp in the boot. So you basically amplifying the signal twice (=loud). You need a head unit with two pre-outs (un "amplified" outputs) these can then with a bit of wiring magic it will work (pre...

Re: Servicing a HDi

I agree get purflex filter, in my experience they cost the same or less than some other filters! The sump plug is actually a 8(?)mm allen key or large (22mm) socket. Personally i would take the under guard off, if not it'll be dripping oil for months. The fule filter is tricker and you need to be ve...

The pitting would be caused by the dirt that wasn't getting filtered out..... The computer (ecu) automatically adjusts fuel/air ratio so all you have to do is fit the panel.

Re: 2.0 Hdi Problems

(the error code for the glow plugs in normal and incorrect, it can be ignored. most HDI's have it, inc my old one) I think you need to get it on a high end diag machine and see what the fuel pressure is on the rail. Its sound like the low pressure pump is working, What was the fault code for "comput...

Re: Engine temp too high ??

I agree sounds like dodgy connection between temp sender (thermosat housing) and ECU/BSI or where ever it ends up.

Could be also be the temp sensor, had problems with a old rover with intermittent temp sensor, on more modem car would have probably caused the problem your seeing

Re: K&N Air Filters

Had one in my HDi, made it slightly smoother, maybe little more go lower the rev. However when I had to have the head rebuilt (fan belt failure -> slipped cambelt) the garage commented on how badly pitted the valves where, it did have over 160k on it but i think the K&N filter (probably 25 to 30k) h...

Re: Injectors

HDi or TD? HDI will require removal of high pressure rail and stuff lots of new seals..... and if you get any dirt in there is will not be good! Basically I'd only be trusting to a diesel specialist or very good garage to go near the HDi full system. The TD ones should be same as any old diesel and ...

Re: Clutch problems

You want a clutch and flywheel, the flywheel (dual mass) will be shot and will probably only kill a new clutch kit. the bad news is the flywheels are about £200! Its a big job too about 7 hours as the gear box has to come off. Cost me about £800 for mine (had the crankshaft oil seal changed as well)...

Re: low gearbox oil light?

a Gemiscan gs400 (from ebay) worked on my 99 hdi. I be temped to clear the faults and then see if it comes back. could be caused just by bad connect or something (especially in this weather). So worth checking there is a "real" fault code (one that comes back) than going out spending more on fault c...

What about some rubber glue (like with universal CV boot kit) if it split but no got grease on it?

Prob cheapest and quickest fix.
