Re: Is it too late for a change?

I was in your shoes for most of my 30's, 40's & 50's, had a well paid job / longish commute that took about 12 hours a day, frequently wrecked weekends and holidays plus emergency calls at 3am etc. I dreamed of jacking it in and setting up on my own, (I started as an electrician too but specialised ...

Re: Help antipollution fault and MAF stuff

Hi & welcome aboard. 8) I think you might get more help form the 407 forum or facebook group, as their experience will be more relevant than ours. I have a 2009 C5 2.0 HDi but am unable to communicate with the engine ecu unless I use settings for a 407. The information available by this method is ve...

Any suggestions for cleaning coffee and semi-chewed donut off my new widescreen monitor?

Re: Electric window voltages

Video confirms your previous post, which was pretty clear anyway.
I hope the switch change works.
One other thing you might try in the meantime is unplugging and re-plugging any accessible connectors, (switch, motor etc.) you may just have an oxidised connection somewhere.

Let us know.....

Re: 406 v6 XFZ ECU not working

Probably, but not for certain. The engine ecu uses a different data connection to the other devices, (the 'K' line I believe) so its possibly also a different fuse. Fuseboard layouts vary so it's definitely worth thoroughly checking every 10A fuse in the engine bay fusebox, or all the small fuses fo...

Re: 406 v6 XFZ ECU not working

HI Gil & welcome aboard. 8) Usual practice as far as I know is to buy the set - ecu/bsi/key(s). I've had a quick look and haven't found anything suitable offered for sale in the UK, but there is one advert for someone selling a complete 1999 3.0 coupe for parts - maybe this would work? https://www.e...

Re: Electric window voltages

Hi Paul & welcome aboard. 8) By the sounds of it, the motor is attempting to raise when you work the passenger side up button, but not trying to go down. The motor is connected directly to the local switch, therefore assuming nothing's disconnected the switch is at fault. I'd concentrate on solving ...

Re: ENGINE TAPPING THROUGH TO 3000 RPM

I seem to recall this being attributed to worn injectors back in the day. Bosch-equipped HDi 90 & 110 engines often made a rattling noise a bit like a petrol car 'pinking' under full power conditions. Personally I always thought they were programmed to reduce or abandon pre and post injection at ful...

Re: 1.6HDi DPF tested at 10 years old, 80k miles, how bad is it?

If it ain't broke...... Sounds good. I guess you've found service routine and set of operating conditions that suit it. My two dpf equipped 406's both had innards as clean as a whistle, which I put down to their predominantly main road use. While it is undoubtedly true stop-start driving and lots of...

Re: 1.6HDi coming our way - Please Help!

I think you're right, the earlier cars were much better. From 2004 until 2018 I ran a 2.0 HDi 90 Citroen Xsara estate, followed by two wonderful 406 2.2 HDi exec estates. All were really reliable, economical and a pleasure to own. My bro also had a 1.9 XUD engined estate and a couple of 2.0 HDi's th...
