Rear Hub Bushes
Hey all
Quick question for anyone who might know...
The rear hub bushes (the one at the bottom of the hub that holds it onto the axle arm) have two types of bush - rose jointed and solid.
Does it really matter if you use a solid bush where a rose jointed one once was?
cheers

It was drums, turned out the adjusters werent adjusting on there own, sorted it now. Failed mot on emissions, and nearside rear lower suspension arm bush The car seems to not want to rev over 4k rpm ish when im going along (its a 97 1.9td). It only just failed emissions but thought it might have som...

Re: 1.9TD power loss
Sounds like it could be air in the fuel line if you say after it release it was fine for a bit, suggesting you might have a slight leak in the fuel line (i.e. the priming valve or a return line) Does it start well? Also check the turbo-intercooler and the rubber hose that comes off the top of the fu...

Braking and MOT woes
Hi all, Wondered if anyone could shed some light on todays issue. Basically the handbrake was crap, so I attempted to adjust the seized and rusty cable, which resulted in the thread snapping off. Got a new cable for the N/S/R, and I took the drum off (the shoes don't look very old at all) and fitted...

Re: couple of 406 issues
Fair enough, I just thought there might be some signs that indicate worn linkages, i.e. excessive play in the joints

Re: couple of 406 issues
the linkage for 3rd/4th gear seems like its seen better days, theres quite a bit of play in it. what are the usual signs of excessive wear?

Re: couple of 406 issues
I've done plenty of cambelts on XUD diesels, but they've all been in 306's, however I've never known it to be necessary to use that 'adjuster' or whatever it is supposed to be. It seems to be really sluggish compared to a 306, although I am aware it probably weighs about 200kg more, but it still see...

Re: couple of 406 issues
right ok cheers  I thought it was something to do with the fan but as I've sorted that it aint! My injection pump seems to be missing a bolt, looking from the passenger side of the pump, at the bottom corner. It has a long cut out (as if it can be set to a particular angle, almost like what you...
