Re: Locking wheel nuts

The button on the light stalk is auto headlamps (totally useless here as I have to have them on all the time anyway  and it makes the computer display too dark to read in bright daylight stupid bluddy rule aid to invisibility but at least it means the feckers here don't drive about with no li...

He takes on a passenger and has his back window open ready for the cash. The passenger taps on his should telling him to stop. The driver floor...

A pair of mold (however it's officially spelt) grips for me. :D

Never had to buy one, but I hear sump bolts are very cheap at the breakers.

Re: strong fumes from engine bay of 1998 2l stdt 406

Another alternative, but it could be from a leak on the EGR valve (if fitted). If it's exhaust gases you should see (if you can) soot around the joints but not see the smoke due to pressure. If it's the header you might see smoke around that area. If it's injectors there is a possibility of some liq...

Re: Servicing

One thing this reminds me of is the pump for coolant removal with no air locks. I was going to buy one of those coolant pumps for my troublesome 405 1.7td and my brother pointed out the effect it could have on the seals and the after effect of negative force as opposed to the force they have become ...

Re: Should've bought a Ford

Thanks for the warm welcome. I should have pointed out I bought my 406 just over a year ago after a lot of research including asking my brother (he's a quality self-employed mechanic) and only found this forum a few days ago. The 406 has been excellent. Apart from servicing I've only had to buy a ne...

Supertisiosis (that Greek fella) Friday 13th

So, this is the Friday the 13th. Who is superstitious? Was he on X Factor?

Not for me, prefer Christmas and the drunks on the roads. It's an easier insurance claim (provided they're insured) and easier than spelling superstitious.

Just as a side note... a friend of mine lives in Bahrain (another oil producing country) and they're currently paying the equivalent of 24p per litre.

Re: I'm Stuffed, any advice?

Back in April some w**ker ran into the back of me and drove off! I got his reg and informed police and notified my insurance, I told the insurance for the time being not to process a claim as in the long term I may be better off paying the £600 repair bill myself when taking into account my excess ...

Re: 90 hdi

Hi, I took a punt on Ebay for no more than £150. They were called Tandem Tuning and had good feedback. I should say, I decided to go for a TB so I could either keep it or sell it on with the car. I'm glad I did, because I saved on a remap, which I would've had done if the TB hadn't worked, but as I ...

Re: Vibration & possible boost leak

Regarding your vibration, I would look at your bottom engine mounting. The oily leak could be from the cam cover gasket. I doubt it is a boost leak because you should hear either a whistle, or a throated sound if the hole is large enough. If it is a fault with the gasket, you may be best to apply so...
