Server Migration - Part Deux

Thanks to this little thing https://406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=25862 I've just noticed a few other issues around here. One of the big ones is that the site has reached the hosts capacity and is causing all sorts of issues. The server's disk is so full it hasn't been logging everything correctl...

Email notifications

Fixed an issue where the board wasn’t sending emails - from new accounts topic notifications and everything in between.

This has been ongoing for a while. Sorry!

Re: Is it too late for a change?

Is wanting to change careers a common thing? I’m also in a similar boat, except I wouldn’t mind becoming a spark 😂. I’m 36 and have been looking at how we could survive taking a wage cut. Is there any chance your employer can offer a sabbatical? Take a year and see how it goes? That way you should h...

Re: Server Migration and Clean up

Perfect. If it does happen again give me a heads up. Every test I’ve ran it seems to be ok but I have been messing with stuff. No mate. Don’t worry about the ad blocker. I’ve reenabled one add on the site as they’ve been away for years. I’m just looking to get a few pennies back to cover the (very m...

Testing Forum - New Guidelines

I've made a small change to this testing forum where posts over a year old are automatically deleted. Theres no point in test posts just clogging the place up. It's part of a larger clear up of the forum software. Please don't use this area as a hosting ground for images or other content as it is li...

Re: Server Migration and Clean up

Just a quick update - the server has been upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS from 18.04. This means I can finally install the newer versions of the board software. This will be done over the coming weeks, along with the much needed HTTPS upgrade.

Thanks,

Nick

Re: Server Migration and Clean up

And that should be it complete. I was having some faults thrown up which meant people were getting white pages with no error messages - but that's now been fixed. Every page I've tested is now working fine and the DNS change has propagated across the slowest ISP to update their DNS settings. Again, ...

Re: Server Migration and Clean up

Server has been migrated. For the geeks I had last updated the TTL values for the DNS entires so the swap should be almost seamless. The DNS change occurred at 1245Hrs 29/03/20 however it can still take a few hours for the DNS propagation changes to occur. There may be some artefacts of the move - i...

Server Migration and Clean up

Hi folks! Long time no speak! As usual, I've been hiding away in the background because I don’t own my 406 anymore. I know how popular and well used this place is however so I’m not one to let something just languish. I normally pop on and make sure everything’s running smoothly and upgrading all re...
