Re: Lower Ball Joint Retaining Nut
I had the same problem. The nut is an M12 x1.5 and its a fine pitch. If you have a look on ebay theres plenty of people of selling them or go to a nut and bolt shop.

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS
Quick update on how i've got on so far. I got the bush out in the end. The quickest way i found was to use a small sharp chisel on the lip where the bush meets the arm i bashed the lip inwards and worked all the way round until the bits all met in the middle also sprayed small penetrating oil down t...

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS
I've just been doing the front bushes on the suspension arms today. What a job. I couldn't get the bush out with the press. Tried using a vice and that didn't work either. So i did what i usually do cut four slits in the metal casing on the inside and chiseled them out and i've cut 4 more slits in t...

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS
Not being funny mate but not everyones got £100 to spend on a new set of control arms these days. A full set of bushes can be had for about 30 quid. If you have access to a vice and a press and a bit of time this is a far cheaper option. I can see where you are coming from though if i had a spare £1...

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS
I've just fitted the new bushes on the arms. Didn't take long used a vice and lined the marks up put a dab of grease on the shaft just to help then used a lump hammer to bash them on. Had to use an old socket on the end to get the bush on by the last 3-4mm. I'll replace the other bushes later on thi...

Re: Bolt size for rear ABS sensor.
I've just done my roll bar links today. Its a bit of a fiddly job. I found that using a small 1/4 inch ratchet with a small 17mm socket worked for me. You have just enough room from the top to get a ratchet in i tried using spanners but its a waste of time. If you know anyone thats got a set of half...

Re: Bolt size for rear ABS sensor.
Hi i had exactly the same problem about 2 months ago one of the springs that holds the handbrake shoes came out inside the disc and damaged the abs sensor and the abs ring. I'm pretty sure the bolt is an allen key fitting. It came out fairly easily. I took my sensor off from the front if you have to...

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS
Hi everyone Just got the new bushes today. The new set do'n have this insert so i'm wondering if i will have to take the inserts off...

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS
Thats a good point. Since you said about giving the arm a good clunk with the hammer i've used your method and it works everytime. I put a smear of copagrease on the balljoint shank as well. I thought the video was quite funny with his scaffold pole and getting the missus/cameraman to help. I had a ...

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS
Hi I'll keep you posted on how it goes. I'll be ordering some new bushes over the wkend. I'm beginning to think i need a vice and a decent bench to work on. this is definately going to be the cheaper option. I found a video on you tube for a citroen xantia how to change the arms and put new bushes o...

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS
Just had a go at getting the big bush at the back of the front suspension arm off managed to snap most of the rubber off turned the bush back and forth a few times to weaken it , then used a hacksaw blade to cut the stubborn bits out came off eventually. Used a big chisel and tapped the metal ring o...

Re: FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS
Thanks lozz. I've got a press here so i'll use that to do the small bushes at the front of the arm. I think the large bush at the back of the arm needs some sort of puller to get it off. I did see a video on u tube for a citroen zxantia the arms looked quite similar to 406 the bloke cut the rubber o...

FRONT SUSPENSION ARMS
Hi The bushes on my suspension arms are a bit perished. Last year i got another from the breakers to get it through the mot. They didn't last long. So i'm in the same boat. I've priced up a set of bushes to do both arms comes in at about 35 quid. Looking at the rear bush the big one which two bolts ...

Re: parts
I've not used QH parts but i can vouch for the firstline parts. I fitted a new set of their stabiliser links on the back of my car and they are fine. Also just fitted a new track rod end made by firstline last week and it looked as good as the delphi part that i had to remove. Cost a bit more than t...
