Re: My 406 is driving me crazy, need some help

1. How do I disable check engine light? After replacing MAF few months ago, it is constantly showing "Anti pollution fault" and check engine light is on. And it doesn't go away. Mechanic even reset it but after car turning off and on, same thing. Why did you replace the MAF in the first place? If t...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Ah I remember the days when I could drink all night and then wake up fresh as a daisy. Now we are talking about limb replacements.... 14 cats, Steve! Impressive. When we were looking for a house to live in, we visited this farm house and the owner had at least 30 cats crawling around. The pl...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

All alive here - just. My son has been diagnosed with leukaemia in the summer, so that's been fun - not. He'll be fine though. Other than that, very tired overall, not felt Christmassy at all. Just glad that 2023 is over. Still driving the Mondeo - and mostly the Mondeo, because the Beemer X3 is not...

Re: Another bargain!

Glad to see some old faces here still. Did anyone do a meetup this year?

I am actually surprised it's being bid that high! If you do a wheeler dealer, you can rip out the slushy and put in a ...stiffy?

Re: New car??

Well, I am still driving the Mondy, having only covered 4k miles since I bought it 1.5 years ago. The PSA (or whatever they are called now) is mighty but I am missing the second turbo I had on the 407 for that extra shove at 2600rpm. And the turbo lag is also somewhat annoying but that's expected. N...

Re: New car??

Yes, car prices are insane. Our X3 is worth more now than it was 2 years ago!

The Mondy is lovely. Still getting used to it and don't get a lot of chance to drive it, so spending some time (and £) getting it as good as it can be before the summer.

Re: That COVID - How's it affected you?

Like most on here, I am anti-social so happy to be forced to interact with other beings. I did miss my badminton and going out to pubs with the Mrs_CJ but we can't do the latter too much due to having twins, who take up ALL of our time. I am extremely tired... :( Not much happened on the work side. ...

Re: New car??

The deed in done - now the owner of Ford Mondeo. It's really a lovely car to drive - very tight and feels well put together. The 407 felt like a bag of spanners in comparison. It's a 150bhp 2.0 model but a quick run with Forscan gets it up to 180bhp without any remap services. The only difference be...

Yes Merry Christmas. A little bit sh*t this year but sh*t nevertheless.

@trufflehunt - I didn't realise you lived literally up the road from me!

Re: New car??

Just a plain 6 speed manual here. I generally steer clear of slushmatics due to me destroying one on my mum's old Clio.

Re: New car??

Prices are just insane. I could sell my X3 for more than I paid for it. Also, most diseasels seem to be rather paltry looking 1.6L and I am sure the cars aren't any lighter... I can't imagine these being very reliable and I am still haunted by the PSA 1.6 HDI stories... Anyway, found a decent lookin...

Re: New car??

Thanks chaps. So it's either Mondy or the 3 series. Mazda of the age I can afford suffers from DPF issues on their diesel engines and petrols are asthmatic. Speaking of petrols.... What are they like on the Beemers? Are they turbo charged or n/a? I always found them utterly underwhelming in n/a form...

Re: New car??

slushmatics or any form of crossover/mpv can ever be tolerable. Whenever I see an MPV or a Picarsso-type cross-over type car (yes, you, BMW X1, X2 and Audi < Q5...), a piece of me dies inside. Slushmatics - the X3's manual box is really rather notchy - a lot more sensitive to jerks than on the Peug...

New car??

Hola chaps, a very long time no speakie. Mostly because I am boring and I have nothing to talk about! Straight to the point - I am looking for a potential replacement for the 407 that I've had for the past 8+ years. It's a bit creaky and things are starting to go wrong on it that I cannot justify sp...
