Re: ABS problem?

Just to clarify - the car is 406, 1999 (old phase D8) 1.8i. The car DOES NOT have traction control as far as I know, it wheel-spinned with not struggle since the day I bought it. The light that appears is AMBER, and it does look like TC... but I dont understarnd why it's there. When the light is ON,...

ABS problem?

Hi, I have this problem which doesn't sound too worrying, but I need to fix it. On my dials, the yellow lamp has come on which shows the car sliding on it. At the same time my ABS has stopped working, the wheels lock easily. At first, the light would only sometimes come on, and now it's always on. A...

Re: stalls on hard cornering

The engine just dies, my driving is fine.

It doesn't have to be reckless cornering, but only a longer bend and more speed = bit of g-force. and engine dies.

I belive it works on both sides.

any suggestions at all?

stalls on hard cornering

Hi,

I have this wierd problem with my pug. When driving on long (little bit more enthusiastis), corners the engine dies. In other words, when the car experiences little bif of side g-force for a while it dies.

(d8 1.8i)

Does anyone have a clue what is going on here?

Re: engine oil for 1.8

Ok, will continue with 0w-40.

Might change to Mobil 0-40 instead of Castrol, will see.

Thanks!

engine oil for 1.8

Hi,

I am currently using CASTROL Edge Sport 0W - 40 Fully Synthetic engine oil for my D8 406 1.8.

Are there any better recommendations, or should I stick to the current one because next oil change is coming up.

Thanks

should I PM you the VIN, if you would attempt to do it?

I am quite positive it's original radio.

hi,

I will need to take battery off the car soon, but I'm worried because I don't have the radio code si eventually after relacing the battery I won't be able to listen to the radio :(

Is there anything I could do to obtain the code?

How much does peugeot charge for resetting that for you?

if its seized in the hub, then it is easier to take the hub off with the driveshaft attached, but i its not seized in then it saves a lot of time removing it from the hub What I meant was, he takes the driveshaft out from the gearbox and leaving it in the hub, without removing suspension or anythin...

I didn't know you were supposed to remove driveshaft from the hub??? I saw my mate remove the gearbox on 2.0 sri turbo, and he just took the driveshaft out of gearbox and moved it to a side.

I'm gonna have to buy Haynes Manual!

Add:

Does driver's side wisbone etc. have to be removed for driveshaft to get out. Or is it possible to pull the gearbox off and get the driveshaft out at the same time?

thx

i did it and what a bloody arse it was, there are two types of clutch on the phase one or as we like to call it the D8, theres the conventional push clutch, or the annoying 'backwards' pull clutch, this was only fitted to the 2.0 16v, 1.9td 3.0 v6 and 2.0 turbo, the 1.6 8v and 1.8 16v have a conven...
